i had some family (i say family because they are family just not blood) that squatted a HUGE estate in kennington/elephant and castle for a good 3/4 years before it got shut down in 2006 i think.i lived there for a bit.there were more than 150 of them living in this place and it had individual flats and all of the floors there were just squatters.there was one big key to get into the place and if you didn’t have a key you would have to jump 4 storeys to get out of there.it was like a fortress..and yeah they threw some raw raw parties and set off fireworks off the balcony one night and all sorts.
funnily enough the only reason they got evicted and shut down was because the squat created a big rat problem (well a bigger rat problem).
People say the squat scene is fucking dead in London.yeah i would say it almost is.but there are still places and people squatting and living and shit.this place im talking about had 150 people in it and a lot of the people i now hang around with didn’t even know the place fucking exsisted! it’s just where you go and who you know i think.
