No personal experience of this but as most RC raise your metabolic rate it is possible that this is what caused you to erupt in spots/boils.
TBH I would think about your fluid consumption in a day too though as if you came up like this and your face became swollen I would drink 2 pints of water straight up [just water not juice or tea or anything but straight water as this is the only thing that flushes out your kidneys]
Any chemicals you took for the symptoms just gave your body another toxin to deal with [and that may have taken the swelling away as your body used the water to flush the later toxins]
The recommended amount of water you should be drinking a day is between 1.5 to 2 litres a day :groucho:
