if you are genuinely doing this without a profit motive in mind’; why not just build the amplifier and/or LS (loudspeaker) unit first; and then share your findings or info online like how the “older people” did (such as John Linsley Hood…) A truly “free” system would allow the user to select one or the other from an already wide range of such equipment.

there is a potential market for modern versions of “1980s hi fi” that can receive Internet radio or play back USB hosted media (but also doesn’t relay all the harsh interference to the audio circuits); and for innovative small loudspeaker designs. But it might not lead to much recognition or profit or even cover the costs of mass production; and attempting to cram all of the kit into the same box throws up a lot more sources of angst and problems.

You may be too young to remember large “ghetto blasters” but there are reasons why these are no longer made.

I find your claim that the speaker is flat +/-1dB down to 20Hz a bit unbelievable, as the classic problem with dipole designs (such as the electrostatic type made by Quad etc) is that the out-of-phase sound radiating from the rear of the driver diffracts around the baffle and cancels out the sound from the front. This is the main reason why speakers are housed in enclosures. As your speaker looks to be about 2′ wide I’d expect this to very significantly impact on the overall bass response (after all, the wavelength of 20Hz is around 17m). I’d be interested to know how you mitigate against this effect.

The last time I saw anything like “infinite baffle” designs was on historical websites about sound equipment in the early 20th century; some people (with enough space) do still build them especially those who like religious / traditional classical music with pipe organs and live in big houses on the border areas of NL and DE or DE / AT / CH. You would need to live in some large house up a mountain or in the middle of nowhere to get away with making noise like that and to get enough space for building such a loudspeaker whilst leaving sufficient for the constructor and any other family members or partners / pets they might have to have room to live in….
