Am sure u gonna love it, but will have to find an old cassette reader and look how i can transfer it on the PC, am very excited to go taking them, even i have to take a little fucking train in the swiss moutain were he is retired…

you live in the same country where Studer, Revox and Nagra are based 😉

These companies are more famous for the big tape decks with larger tape (Tonbänder) although they did make some cassette decks as well. I think today they just make digital audio equipment.

There are plenty of cassette decks still around; only problem is they are almost certainly hoarded by old professor types our dads age, particularly those who like progressive rock and are also analogue radio enthusiasts, ex (or current) pirates, radio amateurs etc.

they do this because modern digital audio equipment especially its power supplies create interference that gets into the radio receivers and swamps any weak signals,

With amateur radio using the old fashioned morse key [still popular today!] should be done at a steady rhythm (listening to music helps) other signals like Hellschreiber, RTTY, PSK31, SSTV and FAX etc are not exactly pleasant to listen to (they are fed to a computer and decoded) and can take a long time to send/receive. Therefore the radio amateur often listens to loud music instead whilst the signal is decoded. I’ve seen a few pictures of Northern European hams shacks and many always have a big set of loudspeakers and a proper good quality hi fi in there…

I found a load of old cassettes recently and my mum gave me a late 1990s era Japanese micro hifi system; I also found a 1980 era radio cassette recorder that still works quite well. I still use them for recording the community radio station and any foreign stuff I listen to on shortwave.

nearly bought a Revox PR77 secondhand as it was the only (just) affordable reel to reel in the vintage hi fi shop near me; but realised not only was as old as me and quite battle scarred, it is 45 kilos I would have to haul upstairs and Tonbänder these days are becoming hard to get and more expensive than heroin. (€60 each!)

The Japanese still make cassette decks (or at least are selling off the last stocks) but they are about €475 (and CRO2 tape may not be made new any more);.

LISTEN TO MUSHROOM LAB ( GOOD TRIP )

I don’t believe you’re that old, you don’t act it.
