saw a grey squirrel today the size of a 3-month old (feline) kitten [1] on the way to work..
around 10:50 this morning on Old Norwich Road, approx location TM140480
not seen one that big before.. looks like the wildlife is all coming out for summer as well.
[1] young squirrels are sometimes also called kittens!
SLACKER. 10.50 and on your way to work?
I’ve got flexible hours (tend to go in a bit later and return home later in the evening so I don’t end up cycling through the rush hour with loads of traffic) :groucho:
spent many years previously working in urban/city areas doing stressful nightmare 9-5 (or sometimes 9-9) jobs, its good to have a bit of slack time these days, not to be constantly rushing around and to be able to observe nature..
i wish i had it that easy. is there any other scaffolders who like to party?
fair enough, lots of early risers in the construction industry as you have to make the most of the light
have to admit I’ve never liked getting up early (theres a thread about the differences in “body clocks” people have somewhere)
not quite scaff, but where I used to live my one of my mates runs a company doing all the staging for lots of concerts in SE England/London. I know of a fair few electricians and others from the construction industry (chippies and other builders) who enjoy partying (I think my old crew had enough kit and expertise to pretty much re-build disused warehouses before they got partied..)
I bet if you haven’t been asked already people from crews here are gonna try and beg some “spare” scaff poles from you as they often get used to support rigs to stop them getting pushed over when people start stacking hard :laugh_at:
i had a pet squirrel when i was a kid . we called her blue  she was an orphan . my dads mate was a tree “surgeon” 😥 they say youre either a morning or night person .i love getting up early but i also like not going to sleep!
tree surgeons dont care about wildlife. i watched a tree being dropped with at least 3 nests in it. all with young birds in. and do you think they rescued them before the tree went through the chipper…… no!
