  • This is our parents/grandparents age group.. doesn’t surprise me, most probably because they can “handle their drink” (i.e have learned not to fight or be blatantly anti social in public whilst drinking even more) so they aren’t scrutinised as closely as younger people, at least until they get involved in nasty domestic violence (the level of this between old people is also hushed up a bit)

More NHS money is spent treating alcohol-related illness in baby boomers than young people, a study says.

The Alcohol Concern report found the cost of hospital admissions linked to heavy drinking 55 to 74-year-olds in 2010-11 was more than £825m.

That was 10 times the figure for 16 to 24-year-olds.

In total, nearly £2bn was spent on alcohol-related in-patient admissions in England, the report found.

Well, that’s totally fair. Old drinkers have paid more in tax for their booze. Before “Sex, Drugs n Rock n Roll” there was only “Sex, alcohol and violence” as recreational past times.

Youngsters need to get more smashed to catch up… actually that’s a really BAD idea…

There is also the factor that young people can get drunk and smash up older people who don’t.

I mean, what’s next? You get ID’d to buy alchohol. Maybe ID to get medical care? “I’m sorry you old fart but you should know better by your time in life, I’ll just let you bleed to death and save the country a fortune.”

I just need to look at my parents (daily) drinking to know this is true,

such a morally ‘acceptable’ substance in their age group compared to other substances
