  • dunno how many of you read Media Guardian but there is an article on yet more ITV news mergers and job losses.

Anyway to save money the weekend reports of Anglia, Central and Meridian are to be combined… There is also going to be an ITV Thames Valley (which may as well be a direct feed from TVP CCTV cameras as all ITV news seems to be is crime these days!)

its a coincidence rather than a conspiracy that these are prime rave areas but I reckon this means that if the ITV news crews pick up on a rave in any of these areas it may well be prominent in the local news for even more of the country; whereas before the report would only have TX’d in one region – in a similar was as to how local East Anglian papers repeat the same crime stories and make people actually fearful of more crime than actually happens; this may increase the fear of middle England…

ITV have traditionally been more hostile to rave culture than the BBC, as they have tried to make money from it but failed whilst the BBC have succeeded..

This also gives a bigger platform for nimbys and antis to speak to the media

incidentally there were rumours the Davidstow rave was reported on GMTV (I don’t get up that early nor watch TV often these days so can’t confirm this!) – for years raves weren’t even worthy of national news (IMO a good thing)
