  • At least Lucky Strike is available in the UK again, although for some reason BAT is only selling the milder ones called “flow filter” in some other countries (they have a recess in the filter, not sure why this is done but some US brands have it as well, apparently people use it to snort drugs out of as it can hold approx 100mg of powder).

At least they still have the proper “American flavour” and are cheaper than many current British brands..

It really stresses me out when I ask my local greengrocer for a pack of Marlboro gold and he spends a good five minutes reading the packets bundled under the counter to find what I’m looking for. But for £10.30 a pack I really get my money’s worth with rugby banter from him (which I know nothing about)

I’ve never been able to find luck strike in the uk maybe I’ll ask on my next visit to the supermarket.

Lucky Strike (the decent strong ones) were fairly common in England in the 80s and 90s, although initially you only seemed to find them in “uncle Ahmed” type corner shops or in London (especially the kiosks at Underground stations). In the 80s the dude in the shop would often say (if he thought you/your friends were not quite 16) “don’t throw the empty pack on the ground along with empty drinks bottles/cans or I will get trouble from the policeman and won’t be able to sell you them any more” (the local bobby was smart enough to realise that not every shop sold this brand and they were popular with teens)

Although when I smoked pot more regularly I switched to Embassy No1 as my hippy friends complained they were “too strong” to skin up with.

Only Asda stocks the new Luckies round here and they are very recent, I happen to have a barcode scanner I use for scanning asset tags and MAC addresses on hardware for work I checked the barcode and they are also now on some of the cash and carry lists (currently at £7.99 a pack) so some corner shops should have them.

Even Marlboro Gold (which my younger sister used to smoke until recently) are £9.60 here, are cigs more expensive in Scotland than England?

In Northern Ireland i could pick up a pack of Marlboro Gold for £9.60. I think in most parts of Scotland it’s the same, however I work on an Island of the west coast and the prices are “Island prices” so £10.30 is still quite a big bump in my books. Think i need to plan another holiday to canary islands where you get 200 smokes for around 30 Euros.
