both governments conducted human experiments during the Cold War and beyond.
Britain’s experiments were mostly on military personnel at Porton Down, although apparently the soldiers were volunteers (bear in mind that 1950s Britain was far more nationalistic and unquestioning of authority than today).
The US did however experiment on both military personnel and civillians, particularly those from ethnic minorities and poor backgrounds.
