  • I mislaid my mobile SIM for a while and Vodaphone have deactivated it and annexed my credit balance….:get_you::get_you::get_you::get_you: It was pay as you go and I did use it as the signal for other networks round here is very poor – wont waste my money on another one – thats for sure.

Anyone know if they are allowed to do this and how I complain about it?

They seem to think it perfectly ok to do that – what if, as happened many times, I was using it for emergency calls?

Vodafone are bastards, they are also funding the oxford university vivisection (torture) lab

i’ve had the same problem with a couple of my sims (not only vodaphone).
Calling customer services is probally the only thing i can suggest.
I think if a sim card is unactive for a certain length of time they deactivate most, but because there unactive sims people dont normally realise.
i’m not sure why mabye to reuse the number try giving it a ring.:weee:

Its a bit of a cheek when you have to pay to use 0800 numbers from most mobiles – they are setting you up for it IMO

You keep credit on an emergency phone for calling 0800 numbers and if you dont need to make a call for a few months they can take it and the number off you? seems like a scam to me – if they want to do that they should give you free access to 0800 numbers on special SIMs designed just for that…

might be worth complaining to the customer services or even Ofcom but unfortunately I think its a commercial decision all the mobile companies make amongst themslelves.. you might be able to get them to reactivate the number out of goodwill..

its called customer segmenting and the PAYT customers are seen as less valuable and more problematic (in terms of less brand loyalty, more customer service demands) than the contract customers (on some networks, particularly Voda, they get less network priority anyway)

They did the same to me and not only that they reallocated the number to someone else.. FA got a call a while back last year and it came up on his phone as Acidfairy Voda.. when he answered it there was some foreign girl on the other end!!!

some networks have a minimum limit with their pay as you go, I had one where if you didnt spend £10 a month you were cut off. I now have an orange a PAYG sim and never had credit on it for a year and it still works, I only use it as a mobile phone book and so people can call me
