equally daft; as the first languages of telecommunications and broacasting are both English and French; and if you know German that unlocks other North European languages so you can learn from the brainy people there (this is why I learn these languages; as I can then read the training guides for teenagers and uni students about electronics and computers)

About the only bit of german I remember is, es tut mir leid, das ist so shpate komme, aber mein hamster ist gestorben. Doubt the spelling is correct but it was, sorry I’m late but my hamster is dead. I used to turn up late almost every lesson just to use that.
