I’ve worked in the Civil Service and although people who blag the system may get away with it in the short term the money is given away very grudingly; it also hardens the hearts of the frontline staff who process the benefits to the point they trust nobody, even the deserving cases.

Also its things like this which make the cops feel justified in shutting down raves by extreme force (as they think rave/drugs culture produces dropouts etc) – and even make people in wider society support the cops in doing so…

Also once a region gets a reputation for having “lazy youth” businesses actually stop investing there, move their busineesses to other countries or recruit immigrants, then people come out with all the racist crap because they find the jobs are going to others who want them more…

Very true indeed. It really bugs me when people are rasist about immigrants coming over and taking our jobs. No one seems to be prepared to do jobs such as factory work and general labouring etc, yet moan when people who are prepared to do these jobs come here and do so, with out them we would probably be screwed. I think alot of this attitude in youngsters these days, is due to the way factory type jobs are portrayed in scool, I mean, whe i was at scool, if you were to go to the careers advisor, and say you wanted to work in a factory, be a bin man, shop worker etc, they would have laughed at you and told you to better your dreams. These jobs just arent seen as options these days, if you do do them, you are seen as a failure. This leaves us with the problem of many youngsters going to uni and getting degrees, then realising the competetion is so high because everyone is doing it, then they end up doing these jobs anyway. When i was 16, i was incharge of someone in a coffee shop who had a degree, and she hated that fact! I had left school with GCSEs and got that job, and she wasted 4 yrs getting a bit of paper to work under me! lol :laugh_at:

        Cancer chemical in street cocaine

Cocaine is diluted with chemicals that cause cancer

Cocaine’s street price is falling as it is being cut with carcinogenic painkiller phenacetin, police say.

The warning from the UK’s Serious and Organised Crime Agency (Soca) comes as new figures are released detailing the use of Class A drugs in the UK.

Drugs like cocaine are now responsible for a £15bn annual bill in social and economic costs, says the Home Office.

And separate figures suggest Britons consume more cocaine than almost any other European Union nation.

Soca, which was specifically set up to find new ways of targeting major international criminal networks, has warned that although the price of cocaine is rising globally, its final street value is dropping in the UK.

The reason for the fall is because drugs gangs are using cutting agents – substances added to cocaine – to dilute its purity.

Customs officers are finding dogs with cocaine sewn into their bodies

The average purity of manufactured cocaine is 70%. But investigators believe dealers in Britain are now selling the drug with purity as low as 30%.

Analysis of drugs seizures has found increasing use of low cost chemical additives to bulk the weight of the drug. Phenacetin is one of the key chemicals now being used because it closely resembles pure cocaine.

The painkiller was initially banned from general use in 1968 after it was linked to bladder and kidney cancer.

The ban was later revoked – but its legal use is highly restricted because of the dangers it poses.

Drug dogs Bill Hughes, director general of Soca, said while cocaine was now being considered by some users as a “champagne” drug, the dangers were clearer than ever.

Demand for cocaine has risen so much in recent years in the UK that smugglers are attempting to smuggle the substance into the UK in dogs as well as human “drug mules”.
        o.gif
In the case of dogs, the drug is wrapped in latex and then sewn between the skin and stomach lining of the animal.

Officers have found six dogs alive with 49 latex packages inside their bodies, weighing a total of 4.3kg.

Human drug swallowers will normally be expected to smuggle in up to 1kg of the drug in sealed packages.

In separate figures, research suggests that more cocaine is now being taken in the UK than in almost every other EU country.

Almost 5% of young people in England and Wales have tried the drug in the last year, while use among all adults has almost tripled in the past decade.

Use is up more than four-fold for 15 to 24-year-olds in the last 12 years. Meanwhile, the Home Office has said that each “problematic” heroin or crack cocaine user cost the country more than £44,000 in theft, fraud, healthcare, police and judicial costs. It estimates there are 327,000 of these problem users in England.

        :yakk: :yakk:

poor dogs – I heard about this a year ago thats one big reason I don’t do the stuff any more (OK its expensive as well)

even a human drugs mule often has the choice not to take part but the dogs have no choice (they are usually killed and dumped when the drugs are extracted and implantation of these packages often causes them health problems)

In this country the authorities usually try to save the dog and re-home it once they have got the packages out as evidence, but they have to send it to the other end of the country as it is classed as a “crime witness” – they are also (understandably) worried the gangsters who got caught will try to attack it and its new family as revenge…

all this just for people to get high…

Me and my partner put around 30K of coke in our arms within a period of 3-4 months. It is a waste of money but out of all drugs, I only ever crave a nice hit of powder cocaine, that’s only thinking of the rush though, and looking back with rose tinted spectacles. As it goes I haven’t used any chemicals for over 5 years and like it that way – it’s all or nothing for me!

        John

well i fink its not that bad it costs alot i agree thats y its called a rich mans drug but there is nuffin rong wid doin it aslong as u dnt do it 2 often i say lv terz

It’s a great kick in the pants, it’s a sociable little molecule, it’s great when you’re too drunk but then you fall off the other side of talking too much shit about…the same shit, every time. Takes your money and burns it, takes you outta the loop of friends who don’t do it, and it makes you cold, ‘even the nicest people’ indeed. Almost always mixed with some other dodgy unidentifiable filler, it always carries a heritage of serious fuckin’ gangsters and poor bastard mule / stool pigeons and yet I end up doing it fairly fuckin’ often on the weekend, so what does that say about me?
It doesn’t give you such a bad hangover, which is probably why I do it – you can (if you can get some sleep) pick up your day the next and go off and have a brekkie and do shit, which is more than a night on pills or md’s will allow. And I suppose there’s not as much chemically-induced self-loathing and depression. So it’s a compromise for me, then, as i like stimulants but am enjoying the comedown of eggs less and less.
I won’t lie, I like it. But I also realise that at some point it’s important to find other pleasures to replace the rewards you find at the end of a rolled note, other activities that substitute for the up ‘n at ’em that powder gives you. It’s all about the brain’s rewards system, isn’t it?

Coke is definately become more prevelent with my group of friends and it took me a while to realise that its sucking the fun out of our weekends.

I’m extremely worried about a friend. They want my help but this is the one area with drugs that i’m at a loss.

I was hoping i could help here as i know very little about coke addiction and psychological dependency. If someone could direct me to good sites where i can find out more information for example what will happen if he stops cold turkey or should he need cut down gradually. Ideally i could do with advise from someone who’s been through coke addiction and come out the other side

        Thanks

          :omg::omg::omg: That’s just crazy..

          Quote:
A man who tried to smuggle two kilos of condom-wrapped cocaine into Scotland hidden inside his body has been jailed for four years.

Kingsley Ifeka, 43, was stopped at Edinburgh Airport last October and while in custody he excreted a handful of packages.

Ifeka, a Nigerian, was then admitted to hospital and during a 10-day period he produced 129 balls of cocaine.

The High Court in Glasgow heard the haul had a street value of £330,000.

It is understood Ifeka inserted the packages into his body before his flight from Guinea in West Africa to Edinburgh, via Paris.

The former club steward, based in Dijon, France, eventually pleaded guilty last month to one charge of being concerned in the fraudulent evasion of the prohibition on importation of controlled drugs.

He was sentenced on Tuesday by Lord Turnbull.

John Whiting, of HM Revenue and Customs, said:

“HMRC investigators and detection officers at Scotland’s airports and ports are determined to stop Class A drugs reaching our streets.

“Today’s case sends another significant warning to anyone tempted to smuggle drugs.”
