  • Just trying to get an idea of how bad things are beggining to get?

    cheery topic raver :weee:

    witnessed with my own eyes…

would probably be seeing an israeli police van full of armed cops pulling up next to a young arab who was walking along a deserted street late at night (i was watching from a roof top where i was living)

they jumped out, asked him a couple of questions and then beat the shit out of him with their batons, until he stopped screaming. then they drove off

or seeing the met charging a crowd of peaceful demonstrators who we sitting down and batoning anyone who didn’t get out of the way quick enough

hmm. strange that the cops feature in both :yakk:

soz, yeah i know its a bit depressing, my worst is seeing some business man spit on a homeless guy! Just thought it would be interesting to hear what people have actually experienced, from all the stuff you hear on the news and what people really see.

thankfully I’ve not lived or travelled in proper warzones but seeing random violence just kick off at London raves a couple of years ago was bad

OK there is way worse going on even in Britain but it really annoyed me that when the london crews go to all the trouble to do something positive that scum can just fuck it all up like that…

also although it isn’t quite being at the scene when radio scanners worked you’d hear of some proper harsh stuff going on, what you read in the papers is just the tip of the iceberg as far as crime is concerned.

Cops and Government don’t want to admit how harsh the streets really are these days… Britain’s “civilisation” is more fragile than many realise

Beanfield was pretty harsh, those pesky cops feature again, is there a pattern forming here?

there is – but I think it goes deeper than that

cops (and soldiers) worldwide behave in such a manner not just because the nature of uniformed services attracts a certain kind of person, but also because the society that has put them on duty refuses to criticise them for doing so – or worse still supports them in their actions, particularly when they are reinforcing existing power structures…

I’m sure there are plenty of locals who would like to violently bust up a rave ,festival or any other gathering they do not agree with but of course do not have the physical strength or weaponry required to do so.

They also realise that they are outnumbered or that there will be reprisal attacks directed against them – so they get cops/soldiers to do the dirty work.

I’ve been reading about the downfall of Germany from 1918 until 1933 and the most frightening part of it is that ordinary citizens, particularly the middle classes, by and large supported the removal of their freedoms, and tightening up of authority that allowed a totalitarian Government to take power by using the existing democratic structure in a modern European nation

Previous to the rise of totalitarianism there were various experiments with alternative and permissive societies (there were a lot of avant-garde art movements in Germany as well as experiments with socialist/communist/anarchist communities)

The trigger points seem to be economic recession and a blow to “national pride” due to international pressures…

No one’s learned from this it seems… or perhaps people don’t want to learn from it…
