  • im in a very similar mindset, seems extremely rational to me, though you are better than putting these things into words than me,,, they just brew and boil and toil in my head.. .

i think ultimately also, everything can be clearer if you accept it at this face value… no frills sort of thing, so in relating this to OP, i intend to only work enough to feed my musical enlightenment, and also my travels..

You’re doing loads better than I did at your age (old man line or what ;D ), I never thought things like this. I thought alot, but nothing really conclusive.

I understand what you mean, you have to accept it. That’s also kind of the worst part, although the only real option (Bar brain washing). It makes me feel bitter, though, and whever I take any action involving another person, that feels selfless at the time, it only takes 20 seconds of thought to realise why I want X to happen.

Selfishness has always been something that has been frowned upon by humans. However this is selfish in itself. The only reason why selfishness is bad, is because THEY want whatever it is you aren’t sharing. Whether it be help/money/information/knowledge. Albeit this may be subconscious. This actually makes it difficult for others to accept what we’re talking about.

This has been drilled into me so much, it makes me feel ashamed to be human, almost, even though it’s part of our evolutionary design.

I have read and thought about your posts on my other threads by the way, although I often loose focus pretty quickly after posting one of those threads 😀 You are always pretty dead on!

Ever think that ignorance is bliss?

Age is just a number! 😉

yeah… if you dont accept it, its just subject to further negative emotion, and although its obviously just a ‘feature’ and a function, id rather it be positive, thats not something i can run away from. It kind of sounds silly, but ive often wished i could somehow be brainwashed as to believe all this tosh and be heavily religious, would be much easier :laugh_at:

Yeah, its almost a paradox, we condemn selfishness, but at the same time, it is almost selfish to condemn it as you can not escape pursuing your own interests whether they benefit others or not, we can not stop being selfish, although dwelling on that matter almost just turns to technicalities in the definition of the word selfish and so on..

    ‘misanthrope’

indeed… ignorance is bliss… one of my favourite quotes 😉

So considering what we have agreed upon, that all thoughts and emotions are apart of this tool we have developed (Intelligence as some people call it), then what do you think the purpose is, of what we are talking about now? Self development? Just the general advancement of our knowledge to better ourselves? You almost feel enlightened, but then you have to wonder if we can ever break away from the constraints that the human mind is set in by it’s own definition.

i think it gives us something to do, something to spend time on… but also it contributes to a clearer perception of everything in everyday life, a fair judgement where you wont be restrained by the confines of emotion, and also can contribute to a described ‘enlightenment’ in whereby one day we may perhaps be able to completely break away, or turn it completely the other way and go the ‘ignorance is bliss’ approach

    oh dear!!!

I’ve just applied for another job to find out my 2 house mates who I also work with have applied for the same post!!!!!
    cock!!!

It’ll be quite interesting for the interviewers – 3 applicants from the same unit!!! :laugh_at::laugh_at:

I’m one of the lucky ones I recon. I really enjoy my work because I work from home so I’m not a slave to a corporation…
