what type of beer?… where is good to get it?… i mostly drink ales for this reason, not sure its a winner tho, they seem to irritate my stomach a bit the next day

If nothing else is available, Beck’s, but most large tesco stores sell a good range of German beers. Of the pilsners, my favourites are Krombacher & Bitburger – they also sell Veltins, but I’ve not tried that one yet, and one other whose name escapes me at the moment. Of the weissbiers (german equivalents of Hoegaarden and the like), Erdinger is lovely as is Franziskaner. They also do one called Weihenstephan, my mate gave me a bottle of it at Christmas and it has flavours of cloves and orange peel and tastes like Christmas! Well nice stuff man, check em out sometime.

Oh no don’t worry about chemicals and all that, my manager is passionate (it’s a traditional old English pub dating back to god knows when) and he teaches us about all the ales and lagers we sell. I mostly drink the ale cause I quite like it and it’s the cheapest! Youngs bitter 😀

But yeah, I’m starting out slow, I told myself I’m not going to drink for a week, which I messed up yesterday because someone mispoured hoegaarden and I couldn’t resist cause I love the stuff. But I’m going to keep trying, I’ve also told my colleages not to serve me 😛

Ha ha, Hoegaarden is nice stuff to be fair. Your manager sounds like one of a dying breed unfortunately, but it’s good to know there are still places out there that are more about the quality of the drink rather than just going for mass-produced shit that makes everyone want to fight.

Sounds like you’re taking some sensible steps to address the issue before it becomes a problem too, very responsible approach to take I reckon – it takes guts to be honest with yourself if you have concerns over a particular facet of your character, good on ya I say!

Aww shucks  thank you 🙂

Yeah he’s pretty amazing, to be fair all of our customers are old regulars who’ve been coming for the last 50 years and have their pictures all over our walls. Very homey pub 🙂 Just recently barred these coke heads who only come in and order vodka and lemonades and peroni and then ‘play’ fight, they’re ruining our atmosphere 😛

Man, that sounds like a proper old skool pub – in my experience, places like that usually do the nicest food too, proper home-cooked, old recipe style.

Yeah it really is, the ceiling is really low, none of the chairs match, dogs all over the floor, coal fire place and of course fresh food! Only thing that is frozen is the chips, I really lucked into getting this job 🙂

That’s what a real pub should be like in my opinion, beats the hell out of going to a Wetherspoon’s or Yates’s!

F*ck i think i hate nothing more than being with people who insist on hitting wetherspoons! full of pretentious twats, and god-aweful pop music

Yep, what a great cultural and horizon-broadening experience Wetherspoon’s is! How the fuck did the great British pub become that fucking abomination?
