Dec. 1 is World AIDS Day

And finally, commemorations are being world-wide today for the fifteenth anniversary of World AIDS Day. Some twenty-five million people have died from AIDS.

Forty million people are living with HIV. Infection is also on the rise. 11,000 people – or one person every eight seconds – contract HIV on a daily basis.

If present trends continue, AIDS will surpass the fourteenth century Bubonic Plague – otherwise known as the Black Death — as the deadliest outbreak of disease in human history.

it is definitely something people must be aware of, it doesn’t just affect people who are gay or who use injectable drugs

Someone from the Oxford area who was a straight male but just was a “bit of a lad” and slept with lots of girls died recently

there are lots more cases like this in the UK and its hitting the “alternative/rebellious” communities as they are more likely to have multiple sexual partners

There are plenty of capitalist/right wing types who think AIDS is a very convenient way of cleansing the world (if the africans die out, their countries can be recolonised) and driving people back towards conventional morality!

many social conservatives (other than the obvious religious nuts) are too frightened to admit this because of political correctness – but of course they can take “direct action” by doing nothing and letting people be wiped out..

so protect yourselves; because much of capitalist society isn’t going to do this for you.

I don’t think a lot of young people see themself as people who can get this terrible “dead-sentence”..strong word i know..They only think about the risk of getting pregnant..(if they even think about that)

But we see a very big part of the older generations (50-70) getting it too, don’t know if they think they are immune for this terrible desease****
        Nobody is…

It’s only gay people who get it..Well hell it’s not!!!

When you have unprotected sex you not only risking your own life, but the partner your with too..

Don’t think that all people realise that they will die..

“it will never happen to me” :you_crazy

        Bad way of thinking..

Sorry about the rant:rant:
