Are you a binger? Its seems to me that the binge culture is causing more problems everyday and I am interested to see how we all treat our drugs - legal or otherwise.
I consider alcohol as a drug in this survey but would exclude nicotine as it rarely reduces you to a puddle in the corner.
the poll is anonymous :groucho:
Any comments you would like to make are welcome though :weee:12

UK : East : Cows run loose in Ipswich street This isn't that far out in the country, in fact it is down the road from the estate where I once briefly lived when I first moved here!
http://www.eveningstar.co.uk/content/eveningstar/news/story.aspx?brand=ESTOnline&category=News&tBrand=ESTOnline&tCategory=news&itemid=IPED28%20Dec%202006%2011%3A17%3A24%3A250
RESIDENTS in an Ipswich street were UDDERLY shocked today when they opened their curtains to discover three cows roaming by.
Three adult cattle escaped from a field in Goodwood Close, near Henley Road about 9.20am and wrecked havoc in the usually quiet road.
Margaret Mudd, who witnessed events unfold, said she could hardly believe what she was seeing as the small herd made their way along the street.
The 55-year-old said: “I couldn't believe it - I thought we were having roast beef for breakfast.
“They were going among peoples' gardens and chewed a bit of grass and the tops of plants.
“All of the neighbours left them alone because if you don't know what you doing I'm sure they could knock you over.”
Mrs Mudd said a Glasswells delivery van had arrived in the Close just before 10am and the cattle had scattered.
She said they had returned to a field at the end of the Close but she was worried they could escape again as she suspected a damaged fence may have been behind their break-out.
She added: “We can pat Glasswells on the back. They seemed to corral them back.”
She said the animals had not caused any significant damage and had been fairly placid.
All three were completely black and one had horns, leading Mrs Mudd to believe it may have been a bull.
Hepatitis C Trust News Letter Dear All
We have recently had the following petition approved for the Prime Minister's website.
Please would you take the time to sign in and please forward/publicise this link to anyone you know who would be willing to support it. The more signatures we gain the better and the whole process takes less than a minute – just click on the link.
Petiton is here
"We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to accept that the current public hepatitis C awareness campaign is not working and that the rate of diagnosis is nowhere near enough to prevent thousands of avoidable deaths. We further petition the Prime Minister to make it a government priority to do far more to diagnose the hundreds of thousands people in the UK who still do not realise that they are infected with this potentially life-threatening disease and then provide dedicated funding for their care and treatment".
Your support in this would be much appreciated.
Secondly, we have been contacted by Hepasist, a Bulgarian patient association who have asked for our support in signing a petition for them.
There are approximately 250,000 -350,000 hepatitis sufferers in Bulgaria. However, the disease is far from being addressed as a major public health issue and treatment is not being offered to patients. There is a huge waiting list (many patients have been waiting to get the treatment for more than 1.5 years) but nothing seems to be happening.
Hepasist, the only Bulgarian organisation devoted to hepatitis C, has practically exhausted all their means to try to negotiate with their health authorities.
In order to support their fight, it has now launched a national online campaign which aims to collect votes from people all over Europe. Through this initiative they hope to grab their government’s attention.
Hepasist truly believes that if enough pressure is built up (especially if this pressure is coming from abroad), their health authorities will eventually have to start taking action against the disease and patients will finally be offered treatment. With that in mind, we kindly ask for your help. The voting process is extremely easy and takes less than 30 seconds. All you need to do is to click on the link and fill in your details (name/email and occupation)

By extending your support to the Bulgarians you will be ultimately saving lives.
Thank you

Hepatitis C Petition Hi All,
I have posted this up in the Politics section, however, I would apreciate if any of you would like to sign up for the following petition. It affects all of us this disease and will have a greater impact later if we don´t do something about it now. As a current sufferer of Hepatitis C, I and others after me would be greatly thankfull for any support you offer.
Here is your chance.
Thanks

Anarchists blockade Central Tel Aviv Anarchists Against the Wall blockade central Tel Aviv with parts of the Wall. This is a great and brave action against apartheid and oppression commited by the Israeli state.

Israeli activists have blocked central Tel Aviv with razor wire from the Apartheid Wall. The activists stretched the razor wire across Basel Street with a sign from the Wall that reads in Arabic, Hebrew and English: "Anyone who touches the fence endangers their life." The twenty activists from Anarchists Against the Wall, who attend the weekly Friday demonstrations against the Apartheid Wall in Bil'in, set up the blockade at around 2pm and started handing out flyers to passers
by explaining the action.
The action was taken to protest the Apartheid Wall being built through the West Bank, as well as severe travel restrictions on Palestinians. The leaflets remind Israelis that they bear responsibility for the suffering of Palestinians as a result of their government's apartheid policies.
I've just recived this by email.

The two rolls of razor wire were stretched across the street parallel to each other, in a formation reminding that of the wall, and red signs reading: “Mortal Danger-Military Zone. Any person who passes or damages the fence endangers his life”, also from the wall itself, were hanged on it. Flyers explaining Israel's policy of restrictions on movement land-grab were passed around.

The action was carried to remind Tel Aviv's café goers of everyday hardships of Palestinians, resulting from Israel's apartheid policies and conduct in the Occupied Territories, and from the occupation itself. The activists urged Israelis to take responsibility of what is being done in their names, and force an end to Israeli occupation.

Alcohol next in line to be nanny stated?
Quote:
Doctors have called for a sharp rise in alcohol prices after a report said 28,000 victims of drink-related violence are treated in A&E each year. Scottish Health Action on Alcohol Problems (SHAAP) also called for a stop to supermarket drinks promotions.
Looks like that nanny state style clampdown is spreading.....you can see why though:
Quote:
It said this meant about 77 people a day were being treated in hospitals for alcohol-related assaults.
Most of the cases of verbal or physical attacks on A&E staff were also blamed on drink.
The full report is here
and check this related article too
I am becoming suspicious that the goverment in this country would like us to return to the era of WWII - diet restricted by what they allow, ID cards and all kinds of civil liberty restricting measures....
Mind you given the irresponsibility of some of the individuals out there you can see their concern, although I think that insisting on personal responsibility is the cheaper solution longterm than more social controls....
Any views guys?
