UK : Essex (N) : rave, plus some arrests.. sounds worryingly like people were busted on licensing violations (normally if its drugs the cops say that when talking to the media)
The area in question looks useable on first sight but is flanked on all corners by farms and villages...
Quote:
Arrests made after woodland rave
Four people have been arrested during an illegal rave in woodland in Essex.
People living near Chalkney Woods, close to Earls Colne, called police in the early hours of Sunday after hearing loud music.
Officers arrived to find more than 400 people at the rave. They sealed off a nearby road and called out environmental health officers.
Four men aged between 16 and 27 have been arrested in connection with the event.
Insp Jim Shaw said: "We will act quickly to stamp out public nuisances such as these events, which are clearly illegal and pose many dangers."

Scientists suspect Israeli arms used in South contain radioactive matter
By Mohammed Zaatari
Daily Star staff
MARJAYOUN: Mohammad Ali Qobeissi, a member of the National Council for Scientific Research, said on Sunday that a crater caused by an Israeli munition in Khiam contained "a high degree of unidentified radioactive materials." Qobeissi, along with Ibrahim Rashidi from the Faculty of Sciences at the Lebanese University, have inspected the crater - which is 3 meters deep and has a diameter of 10 meters - in the Jlahiyyeh quarter in Khiam, with a Geiger-Muller radioactivity counter and nuclear material detector.
"A team from the council will test a sample from the crater in order to find out what kinds of radioactive materials it contains," Qobeisi told The Daily Star.
He added that the Israeli weapons launched on Khiam and the neighboring areas of South Lebanon "probably contained a high level of uranium."
The scientific team doubted, however, that the dust caused by these weapons was likely to contain the kind of radioactive materials which would later lead to cancers.

Cartoon characters banned from smoking… This just shows how powerful the whingers lobby are these days!
Its not even just Ofcom being killjoys - as TV companies have less money to take risks; if the regulators ignore the whinge on a commercial channel, the complainers often video the material and adverts and then start product boycotts on the advertisers!
Incidentally I've never seen much positive imagery of smoking in kids' cartoons.
Usually it was the bad characters who lit up; and often they would end up with an exploding cigar or find themselves smoking in a room full of explosives, red cans marked "GAS" etc; with predictable results.
Hardly the sort of thing to encourage brats to spark up a quick cig...

More cartoon classics smoked out

Turner Broadcasting is extending its mission to edit smoking scenes out of classic Hanna Barbera cartoons to more than 1,700 episodes of shows including Scooby Doo, The Jetsons and The Flintstones. The editing process is being voluntarily extended by Turner to all Hanna Barbera cartoons, following an initial complaint to Ofcom that two episodes of Tom and Jerry which featured smoking scenes were inappropriate for a show aimed at children.
Turner, which airs the shows in the UK on children's channel Boomerang, said it had decided to work its way through all 162 episodes of Tom and Jerry and has removed smoking scenes from three shows.
The painstaking process requires the frame-by-frame "painting out" of any images of cigarettes or smoking - and there are 25 frames a second in a cartoon.
In a statement, the company said: "Turner recognises that it is not suitable for cartoons aimed at children to portray smoking in a cool context and has additionally pledged to review the entire Hanna Barbera catalogue to remove scenes that appear to glamorise or encourage smoking."
The original complaint to Ofcom, the broadcasting regulator, was about two separate Tom and Jerry cartoons - Texas Tom and Tennis Chumps.
In Texas Tom, Tom tries to impress a female cat by making a roll-up cigarette, lighting and smoking it with just one hand, while Tennis Chumps sees Tom's opponent in a match smoking a large cigar.
Ofcom's broadcast code states that smoking must not feature in programmes made primarily for children unless there is strong editorial justification; and it must not be condoned, encouraged or glamorised before the watershed.
The regulator said it recognised the cartoons were made from the 40s through to the 60s, when smoking was considered more acceptable.
Ofcom also noted that in Tom and Jerry, smoking usually appears "in a stylised manner and is frequently not condoned".
The regulator welcomed Turner's "precautionary approach" and review of the archive material.
However, the regulator said in future it would look at all such cases individually and that "the level of editorial justification required for the inclusion of smoking in such cartoons is necessarily high".

(how can I embed this? doesn't seem to work like the others, I get "unsupported medfia type")
last night I dreamt……… that I still had everything I sold to fund my habit. I think the fact that I'm selling some stuff on e.bay (to finance my trip to India before you ask:groucho: ) probably triggered this dream off. I also dreamt of an ex-girlfriend who kept running away everytime I shouted her name.:hopeless:
Anyone else want to share their dreams and maybe someone will be able to elucidate it?12

This place with so much hitory belongs to us again for 2nd time.
You can´t miss the 2nd Festival of International Hard Techno Schranz, Drum´n´Bass, HardTek and Acid Techno next 3rd June. Montagut village was sacked and destroyed in 1641 by Felipe´s IV troops. After this war, the owners of this coutry House, which belonged to the cathedral, tried to rebuild the village giving fields to be worked and plenty of facilities to build their houses there. Those who worked preferred to build their homes where they used to work so as not to be so far.
This is why, Montagut was never rebuilt. Some people used to Live in "Montagut House" to check the harvest and the jobs done by the farmers. Montagut House is the resort where the 2nd Festival of International Music "Montagood 2006" is going to be held.
There is a chapel (Santa Anna XVIII century ) and other building amend such as an old school, houses and the "Big Scale". All the farmers used to take all the harvest as a part of exchange to be able to pay the "rent" of the field which they worked. All these agreements were signed in an contract every yesr. The town Hall (in Alcarras) bought Montagut House in 2004 and since 2005 this town Hall has lent vs this place for a night so as the Electronic Music gives some magic that night.
