do girls grow out of raving quicker than blokes? For some reason I'm still partying at 33, can get away with behaving and looking like I'm 21 and despite a lifestyle which hasn't exactly been "clean living" haven't "burnt myself out" yet...
yet I've noticed that most of the girls I meet at raves are fairly young (late teens to early 20s) [not that I'm complaining about that though!!!] - but a lot of girls seem to just stop raving from age 25 onwards.
I can fully understand if long-term relationships and children are the cause of this, I strongly think if two people have decided to settle down and bring a new life into this world than your first priority is to make sure the children have a good start in life...
but many of the girls I know who've stopped raving now are single and/or without kids, but just decided to calm things down....
always wondered about this one...

Some shrooms still legal Halloooo all ! :bounce_b:
Im a shroom retailer, and as such recieved a copy of the new home office letter banning shrooms.
Thought I would post a copy up here for very one (usefull bits in it, like the section saying that if you they grow on your land without cultavation you can pick them for the purpose of destroying them at first resonable chance !) -
Also good as mentions fly agaric is still legal, so if you intend to have any with you at any time, then please print off this letter to show the pigs as they arn't always that bright and may well nick you for it even though legal!!! - Also they hate us being more informed than they are and feels wicked to be able to pull out a home office letter in an argument with them !
(letter is at bottom of the message - As is their email address)
As from the 18th july all shrooms are class A in any form (any fungi containing psilocybin or psylocin)
Fly agaric is still legal in the UK as it doesn't contain any of these substances, instead it contains muscimol.
Fly agaric also contains alkaloids that are toxic, these can be removed either by feeding shrooms to reindeer and drinking the piss, or drying them at 170 deg. C.
The ones on my site have been dried at 170 deg. C to kill the toxins, so no piss drinking required !

To Whom It May Concern 6 July 2005
Commencement of Section 21 of the Drugs Act 2005
- Magic Mushrooms
I am writing to inform you of the change in the law regarding fresh mushrooms containing psilocin - commonly known as magic mushrooms. The Drugs Act 2005 received Royal Assent on 7 April 2005, and now, under section 21, all types of fungus - including fresh fungi - which contain psilocin (or an ester of psilocin) are controlled as Class A drugs. This amendment clarifies the law to ensure there is no doubt that the importation, exportation, production, supply, possession or possession with intent to supply magic mushrooms, whether fresh or prepared, is unlawful.
Section 21 will come into force on 18 July 2005.
Separate regulations will exempt from the offence of possession those magic mushrooms that are not being cultivated or are picked for immediate disposal/ destruction.
There is a question and answer sheet attached to this letter that explains the law change in more detail - if you would like further information on the change to hand out to customers then please contact Home Office Publications on 0870 241 4680, quoting product code: MMQ&A.
Yours faithfully,
Jeremy Sare

MAGIC MUSHROOMS - Q and A
What part of the law has changed?
Section 21 of the Drugs Act 2005 amends Part I of Schedule 2 to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 by inserting “Fungus (of any kind) which contains psilocin or an ester of psilocin”. (Both psilocin and an ester of psilocin are Class A drugs.) Consequently, such fungi are classified as Class A drugs. It is an offence to import, export, produce, supply, possess or possess with intent to supply magic mushrooms whatever form they are in.
When does section 21 come into force?
Section 21 comes into force on 18 July 2005.
What was the problem with the law as it stood?
The Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 controlled the chemicals inside the mushroom (psilocin and psilocybin) as Class A rather than the mushrooms themselves. Magic mushrooms were only classified as Class A drugs under that Act if they had been prepared or if they were in the form of a product. It is a matter of legal interpretation what constitutes a preparation or a product and this had led to uncertainty. The judge in the Gloucester Crown Court magic mushroom case in December 2004 (Mardle and Evans, 14 December 2004) recommended that Parliament consider new legislation to clarify the legal position. The law change has put matters beyond doubt - it is a clarification and, to some extent, an extension of the law but it is not a reclassification.
How big is the problem?
The last two years have seen a dramatic increase in the number of shops selling magic mushrooms from only a handful to over 400. HM Revenue and Customs estimate the amount of magic mushrooms imported in 2004 to be between 8-16,000 kgs.
Why are psilocin and psilocybin Class A drugs?
Psilocin and psilocybin are powerful hallucinogens which work on the same pharmacological principle as LSD. They are particularly harmful to those with a mental illness or with an underlying mental health problem. The United Nations Convention on Psychotropic Drugs 1971 places psilocin in Schedule 1, the highest level of control. Users are also vulnerable to self harm whilst under the influence and those using mushrooms may experience negative flashbacks.
Haven’t the police got higher priorities?
It is an operational matter for forces to set their own priorities according to local needs. The police agree with the Government strategy that the highest priority is controlling drugs such as heroin, crack and cocaine as they do most harm. That does not mean that there should not be enforcement against other drugs. The focus of action will be on stopping the commercial import and sale of magic mushrooms.
Will it be illegal to supply kits?
The law covers production so it applies to the sale and importation of kits.
How many people take magic mushrooms?
The British Crime Survey shows that about 180,000 16-59 year olds took mushrooms in 2002/3. The survey for 2003/4 shows an increase of 40% in one year.
Was the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs consulted?
Yes. The ACMD acknowledged that there was a need for legal clarity in this area.
Won’t this criminalise those who pick magic mushrooms in the wild without knowing that they are magic mushrooms?
No. Section 28 of the Misuse of Drugs Act states that if a person can prove his lack of knowledge then he is not committing an offence.
Won’t this criminalise those where magic mushrooms are growing naturally in their gardens or on other land they own?
Section 21 comes into force at the same time as regulations which make clear under what circumstances it is not unlawful to possess magic mushrooms. For example, a person will not be committing an offence of possession of magic mushrooms if the mushrooms are growing uncultivated on their premises or if they have picked magic mushrooms for the purposes of destruction as soon as is reasonably practicable or for the purposes of delivering them into the custody of a person lawfully entitled to take custody of them.
Can I destroy mushrooms growing on my land?
The regulations have been made so that it will not be an offence to pick mushrooms for immediate disposal.
Will HM Revenue and Customs change their policy of collecting VAT on the sale of magic mushrooms?
Yes. They have reviewed their position in the light of section 21 coming into force.
Will suppliers be compensated for loss of income from the change in the law?
No. The Government maintains that supplying mushrooms containing psilocin is unlawful.
Does section 21 cover fly agaric mushrooms?
No. Fly agaric does not contain psilocin. Its prevalence is extremely low.
Are there any other circumstances under which mushrooms containing psilocin will be legal?
The Home Office can issue licences for the growth of these mushrooms (normally for research purposes).
What are the penalties for possession or supply of magic mushrooms?
The maximum penalty for serious offences of supplying or possession with intent to supply a Class A drug is life imprisonment plus an unlimited fine. The maximum penalty for possession is 7 years in jail plus an unlimited fine.
Where can I go for more information?
For more information on magic mushrooms and the change in the law you can visit www.talktofrank.com
If you have any further enquiries on the change in the law, you can also contact the Home Office by email at drugsact2005@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk
"spooked" building inherits bad karma? in 2002, friends of mine cracked a squat which was a former health service/council residential home. huge place, loads of space, all services on and lots of tat. a huge great kitchen/canteen, basically a squatters' paradise...
they had all lived together before in relative harmony, often in smaller buildings..
but as soon as they moved in there (literally on the first day) all sorts of arguments and politics started........ no idea why as they weren't short of space or resources....
people spread out to the far corners of the building complex and some would just stay in their own rooms...
couldn't make sense of it at first but as I spent more time chilling out in there some things started to make sense...
one of the first things I do in a large communal space is explore the building thoroughly, to help with maintenance purposes and to see what tat etc. is about.
I am not easily scared, but for some strange reason I felt uneasy in certain parts of the building, if I was there on my own I would not stay in these areas for long. (others also said the same thing about these areas).
whilst exploring I found a "burglar alarm control panel". I looked at it to see if it could be used for components and it soon became apparent the control panel was to keep people in rather than keep burglars out! In fact if you left through certain doors without shutting the thing off, various bells went off in the offices... (at least until we dismantled the system as it was waking up everyone if people went for a piss in the night ;) )
then I found the offices which were still full of files from an era when the local county council got abolished (it appears these files were just forgotten about).
what I saw was shocking... most of the files were mundane stuff, but there were two accident/incident books.....
it turned out that although the place was being used as an old peoples home, it had previously been uised as a home for youngsters with mental health problems, and was basically a low-level secure unit (hence the alarms). (This is a place where you often have borderline cases between criminal and mentally unstable behaviour, and some inmates can be violent).
however there was a serious problem with the quality of care there, and basically the older male teenagers were "running the place". There was some really dark shit going down like gang fights, binge drinking, carers being slapped about a bit (and perhaps returning a few blows), even girls being sexually assaulted by the male inmates and/or being forced into "relationships". On more than a few occasions the Police or other authorities had to be called...
I checked the locations in the accident book against the building plan I had found - and you guessed it; all the locations I felt dodgy about matched up with the places where all these incidents had happened.
Those who lived in those locations actually started arguing with each other more, and there was a lot of gender tension if the groups there were mixed....
eventually before everyone got evicted we had a party but the atmosphere was wierd, someones records got scattered about/stolen and a chap who lived there slashed his wrists and deliberately sprayed blood everywhere about the place (he recovered though and is OK)
Can't help but wonder if the "bad karma" from the buildings previous use somehow "contaminated" the building and affected the people inside? I'm not easily taken in by some "hippy theories" but in about 8 years of knowing people setting up squats and communal spaces; I have never witnessed such things happen and so much tension within a squat (most of the people there no longer speak to one another or work together now).
If we ever get a place again that has been used for bad purposes or had bad things happen there, I am going to use feng-shui to cleanse it.
Dance Valley 2005 Dance Valley - dag 1 on 05 August 2005

Location: Recreatiegebied Spaarnwoude - Spaarnwoude, Nederland

Dance Valley Festival 2005: One dance, one love, one happiness, one weekend........and 60,000 partypeople:
11 years ago some Dutch friends decided to throw a dance party near Amsterdam in the spirit of the ever famous Glastonbury festival. A festival full of dance, love and happiness. This festival became commonly known as "the Woodstock of Dance". In all these years, the worlds greatest DJ’s hosted the stages. People came from all over the world to visit the valley of dance. To enjoy the summer, to feel the everlasting positive vibe, to embrace the sounds that roll between the hills. On Friday the 5th of august, UDC is proud to present the first weekend edition of Dance Valley Festival for 15,000 dance people.
For those - the real party people – Dance Valley will last for three days and will be ended on Sunday the 7th august at the magnificent Spaarnwoude recreational area. Those party and camping people are witnesses of the first dance festival in Dutch music history to last for more than one day.
On Friday there is a total of eight areas at the festival-site of which one is a huge open air stage. On this stage Carl Cox and Sasha will undoubtly be the main attractions, however firework can also be expected by Italian techno dj Marco Corola and Nick Warren from Britain. The always packed HQ area proudly presents the undisputed ‘queen of hard dance’ Lisa Lashes who will share stage with Dutch heroes JP and Fausto, and British artists like BK and K-90.
The two Dutch organisations Electronation and Reactor both have an interesting line-up with the best techno and electro dj’s around the world. The Amsterdam based Loveland imprint surprises on Friday with Detroit-guru Derrick May and two fine dj’s from England: Dave Angel and Jamie Anderson. The always crowded Eurogrooves tent shows a musical program that leans more towards trance than the day after. The progressive house institute Renaissance is proud to present the magical duo Deep Dish on Friday.
Unique for this edition of Dance Valley is the campsite where you can spend the weekend! The dance campsite is a camping trip to the country’s most energetic campsite in the Spaarnwoude recreational area feels like an exciting expedition to the Amazon. A great and unknown adventure, will definitely be a welcome mini break. For some, it will mean surviving on little sleep, but for most, an unparalleled electronic journey. But the fact is that thorough preparation makes partying and dancing in the magical Velsen hills a whole lot more pleasant. So pleasant that you don’t have to worry about food or showers! The shopping can be done in the supermarket on the campsite: buns, sandwich filling, and orange juice for tomorrow’s breakfast. And some alcoholic drinks and crisps to enjoy the memory after returning from the festival grounds. The showers will be available to give yourself a rise and shining look.
Naturally, the real party is taking place Friday and Saturday on the sloping countryside next to the campsite. If you think that the party is over when all the lights and lasers go out and the last beats fade from the speakers, think again. The dance campsite is just a short walk from the event, but most visitors will not be crawling into their sleeping bags at midnight. The day is reviewed outside of the tents while enjoying a drink and a bite to eat; experiences are exchanged, and next day’s programme checked out.
Everybody who will join on Friday have to stay overnight at the campsite and will get a chance to experience ‘Silent Disco’. At Dance Valley, Silent Disco will be there with her ‘Double Digital Silent Disco’ with state-of-the-art headphones. The sound will be digital and people can control bass, treble and volume levels. What is entirely new is the fact that you dance people can switch between two channels without experiencing any sound interference. You can choose between DJs from Dance Valley’s line-up, playing dance, and Silent Disco DJs, who play a mix of all possible house styles. Just see different dance styles and encourage each other to change channels. The headphones are free and people can dance as long as they like!
But the Silent Disco is not all of the joy you can get. In the Cyber Arena that also will be in the Valley, dance people will enter the fast paced virtual arena where gaming rules! Experience the world’s top video games under one roof exclusively created and built for Dance Valley Friends and family. Be the first to experience games before they come out to the public or play classics in an arena custom build for the true video game fanatics!
Whether you want to play an exhibition match against your friend or jump on the battle of all battles on the main stage and be seen by all as you slay your opponent, the call is yours. Whether you are an online dominator or a newbie, the video arcade will give you a rush unlike any other. With large screen projections for a truly larger than life multi-player gaming experience, numerous gaming kiosks, laser lights, projections and fog machines as well as a gaming lounge, the Dance Valley Cyber Arena will be an experience not to be missed.
And if you think that’s enough, Dance Valley is pleased to present, coming for the first time to Europe, straight from the United States: BOOM! CINEMA, a cutting edge festival of Music, Feature Films, Short Films and exclusive music videos from all over the world.
Boom! Cinema is the brainchild of Sid Zuber, one of the original creators with a shared vision which led to development of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in the United States. The festival has received numerous awards including the prestigious Pollstars Festival of the Year, for two consecutive years. With such a reputation to uphold, Coachella boasts an impressive line-up of talent from all over the world. Included in the line-up for this year are: Nine Inch Nails, Keane, Coldplay, Weezer, Snow Patrol, Josh Wink, Ambulance LTD, M83, Jamie Cullum, Boom Bip, Armin Van Buuren, JunkieXL, the Chemical Brothers, the Prodigy, New Order, Bauhaus, the Gang of Four, Arcade Fire, Donavon Frankenfreiter, Autolux, Stereophonics, Z-Trip, DJ Krush, M.I.A., Thrice, Roni Size and more.
Off course a special café will be open at the campsite. The Café never closes and is designed to be a fun meeting place for the festival guests. Visitors can drop by during the middle of the night for a drink, a cup of coffee or bite to eat. In the morning it is naturally the ideal place to have breakfast, read the paper and start a new day of partying in Spaarnwoude.
Next day, on Saturday the 6th august from 10 o’clock in the morning, we – all 15.000 diehards – will welcome the other 45,000 people at the entrance of Dance Valley and the total of 60,000 people dancing in the valley will be reality. One dance, one love, one happiness........ Dance Valley Festival 2005.
The line up for Saturday will be as amazing as Friday. A one-liner by Carl Cox from England goes as follows: “Missing Dance valley for a year means not having lived for a year”. This year, Mr Dance Valley will be present on both days and the DJ states he can hardly wait to pack his bags and make the crossing to Velsen. Cox will host an own area called Global Stage and will be headliner on Friday on the mainstage. Carl Cox: "Friday provides room for 15,000 people only; Saturday for 60,000. However, the number of visitors will not influence my set. Often, less is more. Friday will largely be attended by real fans who really want to go crazy. I’m happy to host for the second time in my career an own area at the festival and I’ve invited the best techno names for that."
On the mainstage German Paul van Dyk and Ferry Corsten from the Netherlands with set the Valley on fire with their hypnotic trance. Something to absolutely look out for is the performance of American masters Deep Dish. HQ has booked two of the most famous hard dance artists in the world with Finnish whirlwind Proteus and Englishman Tom Harding. Also look out for the Armada Open Air Stage hosted by no one less than Armin van Buuren, a pretty new area that was a huge success last year. Everybody who loves pumping house with a trance twist has to visit the Eurogrooves tent. Renaissance finally managed to book the best dj’s in the world with Sasha, Steve Lawler and Hernán Cattáneo.
In those 2 days over 150 world class artists will be present on Dance Valley Festival.
Going out of your mind with the best DJ’s and live acts in the world an entire weekend; that is what it is all about. Everyone will take a short night for granted, and catch up on sleep when they return home, tired yet satisfied.
If you’re looking for more information about the festival, please surf to the official Dance Valley Festival 2005 website. You will find it at www.dancevalley.com
We hope to welcome you all at Dance Valley Festival 2005.
