  • absolutely, so glad to be off ativan, shit was troublesome

never got into opiates which i count my lucky stars for

Opiates are really nasty, sadly many of those affected were prescribed them by doctors and massively under informed by the doc leading to big problems when the doc arbitrarily decides you don’t need them anymore.

oh yeah… the original Oxycotin information videos for the dr was like “less than 1% of patients will become addicted to oxycotin…” and then everyone got addicted then they turned to brown… sad shit

Really is sad. The doctors allow them to get hooked and do nothing to help the situation when they suddenly stop you’re scripts and do fuck all but say you don’t need them anymore.

yeah hence the pain clinics and rehab and all that jazz

Been a hell of a long time , if ever, that an opiate free and powerful painkiller has even been mentioned.

kartom seemed to have some promise… but idk man not a euphoria to it

but yeah we’ve been in the thrall of opiates since heroin first got synth’d and obviously opium has been a big deal for much longer

Heroin and asprin were developed at the same time and the bloke who decided what was good medicine at the time loved heroin and gave it a pass but was very suspicious of asprin and didn’t allow it to move forward. Funny how things change but then before heroin and I think any derived compounds of opium, laudanum was very popular.

heard loads about laudanum, well shit i’d give heroin a passing grade if i had pharm grade junk and an endless supply. poor asprin

sad we haven’t moved along any more in pain relief

Makes you wonder with having all these different opium derived pain medications, with new ones probably still being developed, if anyone is really looking at that problem. Another big plus for ipiates is how cheap it is to produce and refine opium.

yep, if there was some completely new analgesic that was 10x as expensive to produce and only half as addictive you have to wonder if it would ever make it to market..

also just read that the FDA thinks there are 80 million people who suffer from chronic or acute pain in America.. with a population of 300 million that number seems beefed up.. a quarter of all americans suffer from pain that needs opiates??? yeah thats way too high, either we aren’t active enough and get hurt too easily or we have a bunch of fakers

Those figures do seem suspect. Maybe the study was funded by glaxo or some other massive multinational pharmaceutical company that stands to make many many $$$$$ from this.

read it on psychologytoday.com so it could be some figure pulled out of thin air … who knows

Why would psychologists writing a report on physical problems like pain management in the 1st place?
