I think you aren’t allowed them any more (or at least discouraged from getting them as pets) as they are brought in from foreign countries in bad conditions..

As for all the perceived “boringness” of hamsters, they are the Al-Quaeda of small ground mammals.

They are known to regularly escape, dodge predators and other hazards and even successfully breed in the wild (there is supposed to be now a native UK wild population of the Syrian hamster).

Tortoises are my favourite creatures bar none and yes they were illegal for a time due to the poor things turning upside down in transit.
I report web-sites like these because basically they don’t give a toss as long as they get paid for their ‘pets’. Like tarifa correctly says they are one of the most difficult animals to look after.

I think it had had some ‘hamster speed’ last night, it was manic up and down the sofa and Mr Tanks head, and quite fun to play with…..
I am wondering what was in those ‘hamster treats’ now :laugh_at: :laugh_at:

It sounds to me it is quite simply going rapidly insane with it’s luxurious existence.:you_crazy

i saw a very non boring pet yesterday! A Monitor lizard that grows to 6 foot long and they sold a harness so you could put a lead on it!!!!

Now i really want one of these……. hopefully would eat the cats too :laugh_at:

Do they sell harness’ for the owner too?

I’m sorry for vociferating too much on this thread but this is a subject very very close to my heart.
    :love::love:

what about cats n dogs? they are probably happier as pets, specially dogs.

altho i was never allowed pets either, dad didnt like the idea, out of principal. don’t think he was quite as strongly against it as you tho

The pet shop doesnt but i am sure with a bit of adjustment you could use a childs harness from mother care 😉

Nobody should be allowed to have pets.

I personally don’t agree with this sweeping statement, however we both are intitled to our opinions

I strongly agree that ‘some’ people who can not or do not care for their aminals should not be allowed to have pets and that is why – if Mr Tank continues to agree – we will get a rescue cat, and hopefull give it the chance of a better existance

I think non native species should not be imported from foreign countries and am not keen on caged animals, but cats and dogs have co-existed with humans for thousands of years. Cats are actually wild creatures anyway which choose to live with humans and can also exist in the wild if they please.. (it could be argued that cats keep humans as pets!)

thats quality i always thought that cats knew a lot more than they let on!

Go to any foreign country where cats are allowed to run wild with out being shot by chavs and your see that they will go anywhere there are humans and food.

Watching fish while on E is the way forward, ive lost hours :crazy_dru

Hang on a minute have you actually witnessed dogs like Golden Retrievers bounding around for ours in a field and swimming in the water. I wonder if Paris Hilton’s dog (which by the way were bred for human pleasure is happy not even walking with some stupid clothes on). And don’t even get me started on these bastards that breed american pit bulls for fighting for a full half hour. And do you know what happens to the poor dog with the most injuries? A bucket of water is thrown over it, crocodile clips attached to it and then a very high voltage plunged through it , which sometimes just fuses and leaves the dog in utter agaony. I’d string the bastards up if i had my own way!:annoyed: :omg_no: 🙁

yer those are extreme examples, i’m talkin about everyday dog owners, the dogs get looked after proper and seem happy
