given the current terrible events in spain, I wonder what the Police will do now? One would hope they and the Spanish government would concentrate resources on dealing with the real dangers – but there is always the fear when an event such as yesterdays atrocity occurs that the “normal” population will turn on anyone within their community who is a bit “different” (when 9/11 happened there was suspicion within both the USA and UK that the “anti-globalisation” movements had links with the terrorists 🙁
there r also some rather spurious allegations of links between terrorism & drugs – OK some organisations fund an operation by drug running but it is usually the dependency market drugs such as heroin and crack that are sold by terrorists rather than party scene drugs…
3 yrs later post-iraq war there is less of this feeling, but there is still a lot more hate and mistrust in the world.
but of course if relatively harmless stuff like music festivals are clamped down on because of “security fear”, then terrorists have won – they have eliminated a part of the “free” western society. I would hope even authorities can see this……
