  • Get a job……………. bloody right, any able bodied person can find work, in the 20 years since I left school it’s never taken me more than a week to find a job and Im no genius or especially skilled person, I just have old fashioned pride instilled by my grandparents raising me that makes me want to support myself and not be a bum.

Cut in benefits, GOOD………… £500 a week limit !!! Average wage only take home £350 and many work for far less than that, why the fuck should people on benefits get more than people who work………….. in fact this is why many dont work, simply because they are financially far better off on benefits.

    ARBEIT MACHT FREI

“Work makes freedom”. Amazing the bullshit people will believe.

But the ones specifically being referred to in this thread aren’t able bodied. They have serious physical health problems (as well as mental health issues). These are not just some kids who took too many drugs and can’t be bothered to get up in the morning or dropped out of school too early.

Especiallly small employers cannot be expected to have a whole medical/rehab team easily on hand and they are not so heartless as to want to force someone who is genuinely unwell or incapable of working.

I thought MPs were sick people?

Some are, some aren’t. Risk assessment is at the base of it – “If I can get away with this policy. If I can’t, what are the negative consequences?”

Hence the Tories demand that European Human Rights Act be abolished as far as the UK goes. Backed by the banks and the CBI, who collectively represent savers and employers.

As far as I can see, current Tory policy is economic terrorism. And it’s best not to negotiate with terrorists, it just encourages them.

It costs a lot to a business to employ new staff, so it would still be bad business to employ someone who has a good chance of dropping dead within 3 weeks or going off on long term sick leave even if they on the outside look healthy. and people in a job who do not want to be there can do a lot of damage to a companies reputation even if they don’t actively sabotage things. which makes this policy even more ludicrous as it doesn’t even help business.
