Saudi Arabia is advertising for eight new executioners, recruiting extra staff to carry out an increasing number of death sentences, usually done by public beheading.
No special qualifications are needed for the jobs whose main role is “executing a judgment of death” but also involve performing amputations on those convicted of lesser offences, the advert, posted on the civil service jobs portal, said.

Why the TN-C-S earthing is a bad thing in 21st century
This setup will relay nurse call lamps and a Pfeifton across the site. It uses 1970s construction for a good reason...

the electric supply is TN-C-S (PME, where protective earth and neutral are combined)

those two cables are undersized for a modern install but only UKPN can alter them and they charge a lot of money for that.
TN-C-S makes it easier for the Electric Company as they can use cable without a metal cover; but it has the disadvantage of any diverted neutral current from unbalance three phase loads + all the high frequency interference modern power supplies send down functional earth is thereby radiated in a loop via the neutral throughout the whole building.
Even worse, differences in earth potential between the PEN conductor and the building metalwork permit stray electric to flow throughout the site (including radio interference). It is not dangerous (that would trip the RCD) but a nuisance as there is enough electricity to upset sensitive systems like computer networks which only use a couple of volts.
I had to read the lot of it - a cahier is a French exercise book or engineers notebook (they are however of superior quality to those handed out at school in Britain and used well into adulthood).
There is no equivalent version in English.
OK it is not unreasonable the Professeur would write in his own language although the Soviet Union is blamed for introducing TN-C-S to Europe and China. I am not too sure about that as France and the Soviets worked on non military tech throughout the 1970s (they did to be fair invent a superior colour TV system to the rest of Europe); and TN-C-S/PME appeared suddenly around 1978 in areas of the London, Eastern, Southern and South Eastern Electricity boards which all shared engineering ideas with France...
I disconnected the -27V accu supply from the lamp panel; and turned out all the lights to my office/workshop upstairs. The other end of the lamps are still connected to the main building earth. if I touch the (disconnected) accu supply which normally feeds the lamps; the stray current lights the LEDs! It is not a lot and might not be DC (most likely a combination of rough harmonics) but just shows how much rubbish gets into a TN-C-S system. This is also why I use 1970s era German standard relays; as they need at least 30mA to pull in (stray electric would have put off the RCD before then)
Apologies for the shaky video; I had to do this late at night and quickly before the nurses wondered why all the lights were out upstairs and I caused a panic as theyd probably think I had managed to get myself sparked from 230V...

UK : LDN : London Freelancers fees guide for creative industries.
Some of you may be starting up in the "creative industries" (or what is left of them) and may be unsure about how much to charge for freelance work
This seems a decent enough guide (OK some bits are a few years old but it seems to be being updated)
whether you will get these is another matter entirely (that is why I have a normal day job doing the usual tech support tasks you'd find in a medium sized business; although I',m lucky inasmuch that I do get some slightly more unusual/interesting projects to work on than in an insurance office or call centre) but they could be a good start for negotiation (I thought they were a bit on the low side myself; though I've only ever had paid work on the engineering side of broadcasting rather than the creative)

(from the former IP1 yoof magazine website - don't be put off by the links to a project that presumably lost the bulk of its funding 2 years ago though was very active in the mid 2000s; this bit of the site is still regularly updated and I've got a good idea who might be involved or at least know who those are) Some EDM-related stuff here - seems that some folk are relaunching Fire and Ice; as the paper bag nightclub good luck to them (they might need it!))
I may well speak to them about the odd way the links are laid out as it makes it look like the whole site is part of a "dead" project when some of it is very much alive... (and having relatively recent pages/magazine back issues is really confusing; I've nearly put up a post about something happening in stow that happened 2 years ago :crazy:

UK : East : Suffolk Creative Employment partnership
These are legit paid jobs in the creative industries! Although you have to be unemployed and resident in Suffolk UK to apply for them and they are for a relatively limited age range and its not clear if there is anything after the apprenticeship/intern period they might be of some use to somebody (if such things had been around when I was younger I might well have been interested).

More JSA advice.
Hi again all,
I am still plowing away looking for work but I have a question (again).
I have applied for several jobs this week, one of which is for a room design consultant (for their Cambridge office). The office phoned me within 20 minutes of making my application and want me to go for an interview tomorrow (Thursday) in Barnet (I live in Cambridge).
Now, I know very little about the role itself (other than what my general duties would be) but have no information about pay, if there is an hourly rate and if so what it is or whether it is purely commission based.
Not only that, I have checked up on the company and their current cash assets are £1,854 and they seem to have a net worth of £-36,851 which concerns me a little. There also seem to be several complaints logged against them (at their Barnet branch).
Now this would be around 114 mile round trip for me. I'm on £71.10 per week and have just had to MOT my car. I'm really reluctant to go to this interview but if I don't, could there be repercussions?
I'm not exactly sure what to do.
I have emailed the main office back and told them that I will be unable to attend as my car is being fixed but that I could make it to the Cambridge branch if possible. Waiting for a reply.
Just don't want to get sanctioned for not going to an interview that has been offered.

UK : LDN (N) : UK Power Networks apprenticeships
I found this whilst looking for some other stuff for work (as the manager of operations was asking about our business continuity plans in case there are any further disruptions to electric supply).
Its good to see UKPN recruiting apprentices as there is a shortage of skilled electrical engineers for these vital tasks (its no good having a dot.com company if there is no leccy to power your computers and networking kit, broadband connections do not have as much backup power as analogue telephones). This might be of interest to anyone in North London who has some experience in the skilled trades and a UK driving license - it seems like a particularly good salary for an apprentice (though this can be hard work in challenging conditions, its basically covering the old NorthMet area which has both suburban and semi rural areas.)
The applications close next week. They mention "health and safety policies" but nothing about substance use testing, but TBH if you work on this sort of job you have to stay sober around working time if you want to survive!

Job interview top tips.
Now, I'm signing on I will be expected to go to interviews so I have found these interview top tips:
[h=3]Job Interview Tips[/h]When asked what your weaknesses are, say Ryan Gosling. It’ll break the ice. Then say ‘persistent lateness’ or something.
Bring a box to the interview, point at it and say “I do all my thinking outside of that.” Then open some champagne.
When asked if you want anything to drink, say “Just a glass of job please!” Then laugh for 15 minutes. No less.
When shown to the interview room, walk further up the corridor & say “I always go the extra mile!” Then click your heels.
Show you give 110% by pouring 10% too much water into your glass. Smile knowingly.
Wear a sock puppet on one hand, make it whisper in your ear and say “What’s that, Mr Wuzzles? I seem ideal for the job?”
Loosen your tie as you enter & say “Phew! Is it me or did it get 100% more dynamic in here?” Then reverse high five them.
When they ask if you got here all right, reply “I always succeed in getting to where I’m going” then punch a nearby door.
Tell them you won’t need a lunch hour because you’re powered by results. Then make a powerboat noise for about 8 minutes.
Unbutton your shirt to reveal a Superman ‘S’ & say “Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s increased productivity!”
Dress as an American footballer to show you’re a team player. And have ‘Sustained Growth’ written on your football.
Say “I hope to become part of the furniture here.” Then crouch into a ball pretending to be a pouffe & never move again.

When asked where you see yourself in 5 years, say “owner of a B&B for cats” and tap your nose like you know the market.
Produce 2 cans of Dr Pepper & push one over to your interviewer. Then break open yours & say to them “Virgo. Am I right?”
Give your interviewer a hollow pork pie. Then lean back and say “That’s your company - I’m your pork.”
Hire a billboard across the road from the interview room that shows you wrestling a bear. Point to it occasionally.
Get a friend to call you during the interview and say “I can’t talk now, I’m on a date. With destiny!” then wink at them.
Guarantee a second interview by wearing clown shoes at the first interview and not mentioning it until the second interview.
If they extend their hand for you to shake, enclose it in your hands and say “Look! A hand-sandwich! I need this job.”
Know the interviewer’s name and use it during the interview. If you’re not sure what it is, call them “Jobsy” or “Jobbo”.
When asked where you see yourself in five years’ time, make your gas-filled chair rise above them and say “Here, Dawg.”
Tattoo your limitations down one arm. Interviewers admire honesty.
As you walk to the interview room with the interviewer, try to make small talk such as “You look like my real father.”

i've currently got a mohawk and i've got a job interview tomorrow. do you think I should get my hair cut before I go or would it be alright, I do really want to make a good impression as I could really do with this job - its just working in the kitchen at a pub

What is your ideal job
If you could be anything, like your ideal line of work what would it be. Money doesn't matter, just a job that would really interest you and give you self satisfaction. I have dreamed of having a job where I wake up in the morning and thing "YES TIME FOR WORK." I guess I would like to be a sound technician or something to do with rigging up nice big soundsystems. That would certainly please me on a daily basis.
To go one step further although this is kinda heading into dreamland. But I would like to own my own private area of land kitted out for having parties all year round. It would have A nice indoor warehouse with heating and stuff for those winter parties and a nice big outdoor area for the long summer nights. Also nice comfy chill out areas indoors and outdoors. Camping areas for both vans and tents. Tip top security that only prevent violence and of course my own luxury house with a nice big electric fence to keep the riff raff out. But year that's not really an ideal job but more of a crazy dream. I'll keep buying those lotto tickets I guess :(
