It takes about two weeks for cuttings to be rooted properly and its risky posting before then but that should be no bother I will take a couple tomorrow as I’m studying for an exam today.

No rush mate… Good luck with you exam tomorrow as well!

If anyone else is interesed post below I’m experimenting with cuts from these

which also grow indoors ok. They are very mild and grow to about 6″ long> I use them for stuffing.

If you fry up some beef and bacon with onions, then add some peeled tomatoes and reduce off the excess moisture til you wind up with something arround the consistencey of bolagnese sauce.

Then cook some cous cous mix half in with the meat and keep half a side for alter.

Cut your big chillies in half and remove the seeds and pith (or whathever its called in chillies) and stuff with the mixture.

Coat the top with fresh basil and oregano and a thick layer of freshly grated parmesan and roast at gas mark 4 (180^c) til the cheese is crispy.

Serve ontop of the bed of unmixed cous cous and you have some bad ass stuffed chillies that ain’t partiularly spicey but with a far nicer flavour than your average peppers.

    Aloe vera?
I would love to give some away ER – have a mother plant literally bristling with babies if you want some [how many would you like basically? I will pot em up for you and bring them to the pub on NY if you want? ]

Chillis sound wicked – have just been able to eat chilli this year for the first time since my teens and am well into chillies as a result plus I am sure they would do well where I have my aloe vera infestation- how about a swap? Some seeds for some aloe vera plants? or whatever 🙂

aloe vera- my kitchen is over flowing with the stuff!! cant give it away fast enoug, got a shoot and it has grown into a huge plant and we’ve replanted the off shoots, must say was very handy when I got burnt!

Chillis – never tried them but inspired by you so drying some out and what do I do – just sow the seeds or is there something specific to do? any help much appreciated! :bounce_fl

and good luck with the exams EL!

I’ll take as many as you can give. I’ve got 50l of cactus soil just waiting to be used and a spare 600w lamp. It was saved for a huge project that never quite came to fruitiion due to lack of spacel.

I’m just gona write up a wee guide to starting chilli seeds from cuttings or from seed. It takes a lot more patience growing from seed, especially if they are gathered from shop bought chillies.

So give us an hour and I’ll post it up.

those purple chillis look absolutely gorgeous, better than a lot of houseplants – dont think you’d have any problem selling some of them on ebay or garden centres!

Peeps with Aloe-Vera – also very very good for under the eyes after a heavy night out…just try it – freshens and really tightens up the skin. you can also drink the juice….

On the chillies – one thing Ive found through my own experience – if you hurt yourself – stubbed toe, trapped finger etc – that sick feeling you get with the pain….. a drop of tabasco on the tongue seems to take that away….and also stimulates your endorphins which helps with the pain. This absolutely works for me!

They are currently making new discoveries on how chilli extracts can help as pain relief.

Its an excellent astringent, I know people who use it for after shave and also as natural deoderant.

Its one reason I’d love to grow huge ammounts of it but I need more room to do that.

      Staff

Aloe Vera is great for burns and cuts too..

We always had plants in the hotel I worked in..

(not the kitchen..That’s not legal in Denmark)

It grows lots out of quite small pots [leaves can get huuuuuge] and mine is quite intrusive [never thought of using it as a deodorant – how does that work?
