Illegal Drugs and Anxiety

I just wanna say this ain’t a Rickroll link before anyone thinks i’m gonna do em over again lol. This is actually serious shit! 😉
I’ve been getting some weird anxiety feelings lately, I’m actually coming to the conclusion it’s caused by rug abuse specially cocaine.
It’s not anything major and it usually goes away after a little while. I do find though it usually comes on after being on one for a prolonged period and it can be a bit of a worry especially if you don’t know what it is.
Anyway i thought i’d share it with everyone just in case anyone on here is experiencing the same sort of feelings!January 13, 2010 at 10:50 pm #754703
i get that a fuck load .. it’s calmed down alot in the last six years tho since i quit smoking weed .. alltho still crops it’s ugly head up from time to time .. but i’m used to it now and can deal with it pretty much alltho it’s still not a nice feelingJanuary 13, 2010 at 11:00 pm #754734
I tell ya man it has had me quite worried this last couple of weeks. But i’ve been having a poke around on various health forums and now my mind is kind of at ease.
I’ve also been experiencing OCD type feelings as well. It only occurs after binges so i know it’s directly linked to the rugs but it ain’t the one at all! :crazy:January 13, 2010 at 11:07 pm #754704
I get it worse when you post link’s to websites 😛
na best trick is to lay off the rugs and do some relaxing things to help you focus your mind and to get you thinking clearly again…January 13, 2010 at 11:09 pm #754752
Cliffy do you also get paranoia after rug use on the come down? It’s just that i think the 2 are linked Paranoia and anxiety ( well i believe it is in my case ) as they’re from the same sort family of irrational thinking/fears.January 13, 2010 at 11:23 pm #754735

Sometimes i get paranoia on the comedown but it’s usually about my actual health/body.
It’s worse when i do drone though, i don’t really hit it that much, probably done it about 7 times now, but i get these feelings quite severely on the comedown from that stuff.
I tell you what though i feel much better mentally talking about it!!

Yeah man you’re right. I find though it’s worse with rugs like coke and drone/mdma. I might start working out again cos exercise releases endorphins into your body and makes you feel happier so it might have to be done soon methinks.January 13, 2010 at 11:38 pm #754753
Helathy body healthy mind as they say cliffy!!
Anyway as for the comedowns on drone you prob just wanna reduce the amount you do. As i get a little edgy the next day after doing drone. Anyway it’s balance! Ok u get less of a buzz but you get less of the bad stuff after aswell. Coz if i’ve had nights were the rush might have been good the next day shite would cancel out the previous days high, and i’d be sitting there thinking why did i do it!! ANyway so reduce the amount and reduce the anxiety.January 14, 2010 at 8:24 am #754745
i try to avoid all stimulant drugs which cause this effect but why i always bring up Benzo’s (phenazepam etc) is that i use them on the comedown and they are anti-anxiety drugs, extremely fucking good at stopping anxiety.
and getting to sleep after 😉January 14, 2010 at 2:50 pm #754705
Yeah I used to a bit on speed coke weed K (at times) etc tbh I am so paranoid all of the time now its hard to tell if rugs make it worse or not. I would like to go with not.January 14, 2010 at 3:12 pm #754736
Since talking about this issue i have felt pretty good today, In fact have been the happiest i’ve felt in about three weeks time (listening to house music on me ipod most of the day has helped immensely as well!)January 14, 2010 at 5:42 pm #754724
this is normal especially as you get older. A lot IMO is about feelings of guilt because drugs are illegal and viewed as immoral, plus as you come down you realise the good times are finishing for that weekend and its back to the mundane reality of work etc..It was also the reason why I posted my misgivings about being an older raver..
I usually get this towards the end of a party weekend (even at the party with friends) – but it disappears after you calm down for a bit and don’t party as hard.January 14, 2010 at 9:16 pm #754754
The problem with being an older raver or just older in general is that you ‘worry then do’ where as when you were younger you’d ‘do then worry’. SO now if you’ve already started to worry a little before you do anything thats just gonna carry through and by the end of it you a lot more worried and anxious then you would have been when you were younger. I do find that the anxiey feelings do go whilst i’m quite drunk or just enjoying myself too much to think. But once the enjoyment goes and my mind is less occupied those sort of anxiey thoughts come flooding back and more so.
Eventually i’ll start acting my age and knocking all this on the head and being mr family/work and nothing else guy! but for the time being whilst i still enjoy to an extent i’ll put up with those thoughts feelings untill i can’t be bothered with it all anymore.January 15, 2010 at 6:24 pm #754756
thanks cliffy for bringing this subject up . ive only done drone once and it wasnt a shitload , threw the stuff some caution as it was my first time . when i got back next day and for the following week the anxiety was bad , really un-easy ( this was first anxiety exp ). since then ive had it a few times even just with drink . i find the anxiety has really put me of drink and drugs , which is a good thing i suppose .i never done psychs so dunno if maybe thts the way forward for me , i really enjoy my binges but for the sake of my happiness post sesh i would rather not , but yeah comforting to know its not just me , thanks people :group_hugJanuary 15, 2010 at 7:29 pm #754737

No worries pal. Tbh it’s drone that has left me feeling like this. I never used to get bad anxiety after doing coke, maybe for a couple days but it seems to last for weeks after a drone binge. I think it’s something to do with serotonin, drone seems to deplete it more than any other rug, I could be wrong but it’s how i sees it lol!
Talking about rug issues that affect us is the way forward i think. Since bringing it up and knowing i am not the only one who gets this and this might sound a bit out of order but i have been so so happy these past two days. For a while there i thought i had actually gone a little bit mental!! :love:January 16, 2010 at 12:39 am #754757
aye , you do start to feel a bit mental at the time and after the anxiety . but its good to talk about it , nice thread 😉
