  • Hello!

This is incredibly important if you all want to go to Glade Festival this year. The time has come to start emailing West Berkshire council in support of Glade. I am going to copy the email i have been sent in here and at this point it would be brilliant if as many people as possible were to write to the email addresses on there.

    Thank you!!

Ok Chaps, this is your time to do a bit. Please email Brian Leahy on the first email address below, copy it to the editor at the Newbury. Do your own individual email that covers these points.

    editor@newburynews.co.uk

The Festival is a safe event, the safest festival you have ever attended, all the local people you have spoken to and the festival goers all want the festival to happen. It is good news for the local community. West Berkshire is lucky to have the opportunity to host the event and it would be very sad if it didn’t happen. Everyone you have spoken to has said that it was NOT a noise nuisance locally.

Please word this in your own words, do not just copy what I have said.

Please send this onto everyone on your messenger/contact list and ask them ALL to blind copy me in so that I can have an idea of the support we have been able to give.

Please can you start hustling as many letters / emails as possible to brian leahy – now is the time – the more letters we get the more chance we got – it is still very much in the balance right now.

It is definitely always a help to send the letters also to the newspapers. (Newbury Weekly News)

There no standard letter format to follow – in fact if the council think people are just cutting and pasting the same letter they all get discounted – the letters have to be individually written.

However, if the supporters could write in and say that

    a) they think the event is a benefit to the people and businesses of the local area and presents no problems with crime for the local area.

    b) that they do not believe it is a noise disturbance to the local area – this is a key point and should appear somewhere in each letter if possible.

If they word it in their own way it would be better.

It is also better to keep the letters relatively short and sweet – the main two points are above.

cana mod change the poost above to a sticky, and a seperate thread so as many people see it as they can, please do this cos this fest needs to to be saved

    peace

done – and if I still lived in SE England I would be sending my letter in now (I now live too far away from West Berks to influence anything)

I definitely think anyone who lives in the Thames Valley should write in, even if they may not be able to go or afford it – its the principle of the whole thing

The Glade organisers have actually kowtowed to the demands of the authorities and marketplace to do things by the proper channels and are still getting knocked back by the anti-fun brigade :hopeless:

We need to stand up for everyones right to party – even legal events are being clamped down on nowadays due to anti drugs/anti fun hysteria

    Thank you.
It doesn’t even matter if your not in this area, though does help. However you can still write to the local council and air your opinion. Its a small group of angry old people that have a lot of time to write to the council that are potentially ruining this for all of us! We need to show our support for the Festival in order for it to happen.
    Thank you again.
    Rach

realy hope this goes ahead again, the event is held in the villiage where my folks live. When the first event was held all the locals got free tickets. Of course all the pensioners didn’t make it but all their kids and grand kids (me back then lol) did leaving the older generation in a tricky predicament objecting! Very smart but didn’t bother after that. I know the locals are funny buggers down their but most don’t object that much. Even my mum whent last year with my little bro they made a fair few quid by selling fresh fruit etc to tripping ravers!!!!!!!!!! Hope to go this year if it comes off.:bounce_fl

They still gave something like over 100 tickets to the community this year (and the preceding ones) only most went on Ebay…..:mkay:

The first glade festival was good imo but since witnessing the bullshit attitude of the security at subsequent glade`s i cannot support it anymore.
