the first free parties happened around the 1990-1992 recession and cops don’t forget stuff like this – they will only endure raves if they are less of a burden to society
unfortunately what I remember happening in SE England is there was about a year of decent parties, people caned the drugs loads and then they got shitty comedowns/depression and then rioted/smashed up loads of stuff in the streets anyway – most of the travellers also got onto heroin and the use of it went through the roof – which led to the CJA and more clampdowns..
the scene carried on in London but got more and more dark and violent by 1993/1994 and it was only when the economy came back up when blair got in that it picked up again in the provinces, but the gangs have never let go of the London scene…
also this particular depression may actually bring a lot of farming back to the UK – of course this is good environmentally but will mean more demand for land which will be more jealously guarded…
what might happen though is more legal events are endured because “townie” clubs have to let them happen or go bust otherwise… perhaps cops and councils will accept it as “lesser of many evils…”
