yeh wentie pikinon da weekend, found a nice little spot where we hadnt been before, and piked bout 500, there is definetly an increase in numbers this year, prob the weather int it. any one been pikin on dartmoor yet, i would like to know where yer fav spots are to be. pm me and ill let u in for a few.

mushrooms have several cycles; there are three potential flushes each day if conditions are good (ie cool and damp, but not too cold or wet). There are roughly three stages of potency during each season, with the strength declining as the season goes on. There is also a three year cycle of strength:quantity. So, if one year there are very few they should be strong, the next year there will be more but less strong and the following year there will be lots of fairly weak ones (obviously the waether has some impact on all this)

This explains why one year you might munch a few heads and be proper high and another year drink a brew of hundreds for the same effect.

BTW Willywonker, I prefer making the trip up to Exmoor… some spots near south molton that tend to be good. Watch out for the ram tho 😮

They seem to be good this year – at least where we’re picking them. Not that many out, but munched 30 on Sunday night and was well fooked!

yeh munched bout70-100 watchin mrscruff last nite, had a few beers aswell so i was totally away wid the fairies(pixies)

there are alot but they dont seem as potent as usual, so i thnks globallon ui do hav a point.

there every where, between me and me girlfriend weve piked bout 600-700 shrooms, and there all proper shroom lookin, ive found sum years there all a bit on the deformed side

maybe im jus pukin frsh ones which hav cum up the same night.

ill prob start storing sum up know for the long winter months.

whats everyones ideal way of dryin them????

leave em to dry naturaly in an airing cupboard… if you try to force them to dry they will sweat and get a nasty salty fishy taste then decompose

i cant thnk of any one else who can mix live as well as he can.

fuk this weather, its sooo shit, no shroom pikin this weekend.

Plenty out in West WAles. No frosts yet but not for long. Get picking and remember to flick the cap before you do and help spread the spores.

Once they are dry (hang them up by sewing a thread through the stem). Then warm up a jar of runny honey and stuff the little beauties in. The honey makes a superb airtight medium and when you want some, just spoon it into your chosen brew or whatever.

Could you guys give me advice on shroom fields in Brighton? I’m a student at sussex, so do not know the area. Have wondered around the fields above sussex campus a few times, found loads of mushrooms, but not the ones I want!

Any help would be appreciated (pm me if you do not wish to make it public!)

well i dont know that part of da country that well realy? but….. u basically wanna get to the nearest national park(like dartmoor) u dont wana get on to higher ground and u dont want the land to open and windy, good places are norm round the edges of braken and gorse. loadsa shops sell em now(to a sertain extent, like them weired dodgy mexican ones if u cant get out and pik ye own)

another idea is to fuk university. buy a tent a come and live on dartmoor for a few weeks, and pik till yer bak hurts.
