Lol, and if it doesn’t already sound sexual give her one for me too.

Will do squire! Now, where’s my passport?

Sitting on a train or any public place for that matter and just watching people… it’s as if you are brought down to Earth and can see everyone as an individual with their own story, vices, virtues, people in their lives, etc. As opposed to seeing them from the top down as a collective ‘mob’, in which case everyone seems more like a statistic. Makes me realise how similar so many of us are, it’s not something you think about every day. It’s a lovely thought

I’ll say science as well because not only head is it head fuckingly amazing… it’s also the truth. I would love to be able to understand the theory but christ it’s complicated!

I have to say that there seems to be this view that science is very hard to understand. And while yes, it’s true, the average person can’t breeze through Landau and Lifshitz’s “Course on Theoretical Physics,” I think people can learn what science has to offer. It’s not meant to be knowledge guarded by sacred High Priests of subatomic particles or anything. It’s just that most students, especially in the west, are not exposed to mathematics or science properly, whereas normally a lot of reading is done. So people might feel they can read Tolstoy but not Einstein or Bohr. The level of difficulty is quite similar, but it’s just that most people haven’t been exposed to the terminology/mathematics. With just some calculus and algebra you can actually work out a lot of cosmological formulae for yourself. It’s where you bring in quantum physics and probability distributions that it all gets quite wacky.

Science isn’t that hard.. i’m terrible at maths. Most people just go into it with the wrong mentality and thus set themselves up for failure. If you truly want to learn it will come to you, it just takes practice.
Another reason I love science is because it attempts to explain everything and isn’t for people who can’t deal with their mortality.

Perhaps that’s the kind of thing I’m talking about when I say it’s hard. I love to learn about it, and I do understand lots of things. I often think of how a person can produce these theories and it’s just mind boggling. If I were to pick up a book and try to make sense of that process they undertook, there would be lots of things I couldn’t make head or tail of. That’s ok though I think. You can have a grasp of the concept and understand how factors fit together without delving too deeply into it.

You’re spot on about kids not being exposed to maths and science properly in this part of the world. When kids are taught just to memorize and regurgitate things, the curiosity gets squeezed right out of them. As a result, we’ve produced a generation who are so dependent on science and technology yet know hardly anything about it. I’m 21 now and I hardly paid much attention in science class when I was in school. In the last year or two I’ve learnt so much more than I did at school, and it’s really dawned on me how amazing it is and how valuable it is to hold that knowlege.

The education system is very flawed. Instead of actually learning things and understanding them, we are made to juts remember them and regurgitate them for the sake of good grades in exams and subsequently good statistics for the school. That is all they care about. They would rather 100’s of mediocre kids rather then a few bright ones and it’s a shame. Without sounding bigheaded i’m relatively bright and I was never pushed in school.. I found it incredibly easy and became very relaxed about it, never really tried at all and never had to learn anything, all because the school was obsessed with pushing out hundreds of average people and the dumb people who mostly only lack intelligence because they are chavs that don’t care about their education and would rather be little shits got all the attention and help.. and still failed.

People are obsessed with getting good A’s etc. but when they get them and move on in life I think they will be shocked to find that their grade actually means nothing and is worthless as they don’t really understand what they have memorised, they just copy and pasted basically.. /rant
