"Londonistan"’s lost generation? every weekend when I read the London news there seems to be a gang fight at some tube station in the North/East where a young man is stabbed to death.
Southside its equally bad - read about a teenage kid being stabbed in the eye at school - another lad shot dead for a mobile (doesn't make sense even if the shooter has no morals - surely a pistol costs way more than even the most expensive mobile?!) Unless its yet again another "territory" thing
There was an incident recently where loads of youths ran onto a South London train shouting "PENGE! PENGE!" - whilst this sounds almost amusing - like something Spike Milligan would have dreamed of it turned to horror as these lads used bats and bottles to crack the heads of anyone who was from Sydenham..
all these crimes seem to be committed in public view with witnesses - people are arrested, charged and often serve long stretches but they don't seem to care.
Interestingly race is only a secondary factor in much of the violence; although you get the odd clashes between blacks/asians and white football hooligans in traditional flashpoint areas it seems the hate is multicultural, everyone robs/attacks each other irrespective of skin colour now..
I was born and brought up in London, lived there on and off from 1972 - 1992 (although my parents left in the late 70s after the race riots) - in 1992 there was the beginnings of this culture of violence but notthing as bad as now. I have never seen the streets as bad or the youth as angry and hopeless as this. What the fuck is happening to our capital city?
TENs Notice With the new public entertainments law threatening to crush underground parties, we can use their laws against them.
The new PEL makes provision to help out church fetes and the like. They also can help us. It's called a Temporary Event Notice, (TEN).
A TEN allows you to hold a gathering. The gathering maybe for upto 499 people at any one time, including crew. The gathering may continue for upto 96 hours. It can be inside or out. You may advertise the event and charge admission if you wish. You may sell alochol at the event for consumption on or off the premises.
To get a TEN you need to apply to the council a minimum of 10 working days prior to the event, at a cost of £21. The council can not object if the form is filled out correctly.
You must also hand a copy of the application to the chief of the local police at least 10 working days prior to the event. The police can object only on the grounds that the event could lead to an increase in crime and disorder, they have 48 hours from receiving the form to make their objection. Work out the best day to hand your form in.
The event will be subject to section 63, so the venue must be out of the way. You can in theory use a squatted space as you don't need to owners permission to complete the form.

Happy Chinese New Year! It is now the year of the Red Fire Dog - Happy New Year to all our users worldwide. Some of you in Asia will already be celebrating (and will only see the message when they wake up tomorrow) - I am going to a relatives house for a large family dinner later tonight.

Interestingly though a lot of Chinese dumplings and meat products appear to be made in Britain now using high quality local ingredients, more so than a in a supermarket - perhaps the way to support your local farmers is to eat more Chinese food!
You can find a Chinese store in most areas of the UK, there's a huge one in Swansea and loads in London. They sell lots of other Asian produce from SE Asia which can be hard to find elsewhere. Don't be worried about buying "strange" food as all the packages are marked in English as well as local languages - although we did find a tin of rambutan juice from Thailand branded "Cock on the Hill"!

Mack, Smoove, Rob and Fingaz will be performing on five decks in the Can You Feel It breaks arena at SeOne, London Bridge on Saturday, February 18 for the eagerly-anticipated Raindance Slightly Late Valentine’s Ball.
Anyone who has journeyed with us to the maze-like venue on previous occasions knows that a Raindance party is guaranteed to give you an experience like no other!
This time round there’s a massive SIX rooms of music with the new addition of a hard house arch to go with the old skool, drum and bass, hardcore, classic house and breakbeat rooms.
