Optronica - a hybrid of film festival and music festival - is a new five day event focusing on the convergence of visuals and music. Performances at the bfi London IMAX are ex-Kraftwerk star Karl Bartos with his stunning live AV show, the World premiere of Warp Records act Plaid & Bob Jaroc's 'Greedy Baby' AV show and the UK premiere of DJ Spooky's solo film remix 'Rebirth of a Nation'. Addictive TV playing live on the roof of the National Theatre, Skoltz_Kolgen, Masakatsu Takagi, People Like Us, The Sancho Plan at the NFT and DJs Joakim, Si Begg, Legowelt and a whole pool of international VJs at the Spitz in East London.
Optronica takes place on July 20-24, 2005 at the NFT, the bfi London IMAX cinema - the biggest screen in Britain - and other venues and features live audiovisual performances, cinema screenings, installations and talks. Organised by AV artists and DVD label Addictive TV and curators Cinefeel in collaboration with the National Film Theatre (NFT). Supported by the Arts Council of England.

Tube warning after 'bang' heard
Emergency services have been called to London's Liverpool Street Underground station after reports of an explosion. The incident has caused major disruption to the entire network with stations across the capital closed.
British Transport Police said there were "walking wounded" but one person's life was reported to be "at risk".
London Fire Brigade said four crews were at the scene and more were on their way. A power failure could be the cause, Transport for London said.
A British Transport Police spokesman said that emergency services were dealing with reports of an explosion at 0849 BST on the Metropolitan Line between Liverpool Street and Aldgate.
One passenger, who had left the Tube at Fenchurch Street Station, and walked to Aldgate East, told BBC Five Live that he saw injured people.
"As I walked through the bus station I could see people lying on the ground, black, as if they'd been covered in smoke. There were about three or four people on the floor being treated."

Right Straight to it...My girlfriend Kaz was Assulted and arrested by the police shortly after the equipment was confiscated in full view of hundreds of you, some of you must have photos, video or videophone images of the afore mentioned event, also we need witnesses who are of good character ( No theft, burgalries or twoc etc.) who will be prepared to give honest statements about what happened. They have charged her with Affray, with the pig saying she tried to smack him in the mouth. I Know this to be utter bollox, do you? ....and just when you thought it couldnt get any fucking worse,i left it for a few hours as these things take time so i started the phone calls politely, the police gave me false information of where she had been taken to start with, with the custody sweet at 2 police stations putting the phone down on me when i said who i was and who i wanted and then not answering when i redialed, it took me over an hour to trace her, i did have a good moan at the inspector incharge tho'. I left site about 4oclok to head to the police station to get the car keys off them so i could get the car out cuz as i suspected when i got back at 9pm the whole site was totally locked up, the gym borded up and to my surprize it was TIDY? and the icing on the cake some fucking low life had broken into our car smashing the side window,stealing our jvc cd player and my girlfiends purse, money, creditcards and driving license, that were hidden I wanted to fucking kill sumone i swear. We sat in the car totally gutted, then this oldish bloke appeared and said the police were on there way cuz i had been seen breaking in.WTF. I managed to get us out just in time as the police were coming in another entrance which they had keys for!after a slow drive home with no stereo or window ive bin in for half an hour.We live in Nottingham. Fucking NightMare . Please my girl is a totally devastated so i appeal to you to help her if you can, we cant let this keep happening ....enough is enough right?
