Bob Geldof Apologies for the crudeness but my heads not working properly so....
Just wondering what everyone else opinions are on Geldof's current schemes. Such as his sail 8 (dunkirk stylee flotilla picking up french protesters and bringing them to edinburgh) and bed and breakfast 8 (free bed and breakfast for sid frogs) and then the storming of Edinburgh....oooh 40miles from Gleneagles.
Much as I agree with the ideas behind the protest....COME ON TAE FUCK MAN. He really is taking the piss....has he thought about the negative impact on the campaign when the scum hiding within this one million folk decide aha we'll burn some cars or smash shit and loot these "coprotations". Has he thought about how these French protesters are planning on getting home.....or is he just planning on leaving them stranded here. Also has he looked at the history of French protestors.....RAR our fuel is still almost the cheapest in Europe lets riot an burn shit......rar youve got foot and mouth lets burn shit....rar im bored LETS BURN SHIT. Also its edinburgh it cant even handle the ammount of traffic on its roads at the moment and the royal mile is already gettin packed with tourists....how can it handle 1 million extra folk.
I accept that that is a fairly stereotypical view but I'm personally fed up with going along to a peaceful protest only to find a bunch of French extremists fucking things up. Apparently these arent even the proper extremist French though...their the more peaceful ones, they only throw stones at pigs rather than torch their cars.
IN : Indian trade unions show solidarity with outsourced workers in rest of world! From News.com
May 27, 2005 4:34 PM PDT
Report: outsourcing worries Indian union leaders too
U.S. techies aren't the only ones anxious about outsourcing. Union leaders in India also worry about the trend of farming out tasks to other companies, according to a report Friday on the Web site of the Union Network International Graphical organization.
At a union-organized seminar in Pune, India earlier this month, outsourcing was identified as one of the five major problems facing printing and newspaper employees in the country, according to the report. "[T]his was resulting in loss of employment of the existing workers in a company (and the) employer was paying a fraction for the outsourced work," the report said.
Perhaps surprisingly, the report indicated Indian union leaders feel empathy for European and American workers stung by offshore outsourcing. "As union members, we must understand that for every job that we get in India, a job is lost in the outsourcing country," the report said. "And the beneficiary is always the employer because in India he has to pay only a fraction of the wages that he pays in his own country."

UK : LDN (S) : 22 yr old female commits suicide on comedown Although it is clear from the reports that this lady had a history of mental problems and itwould be wrong to wholly blame her recreational drug use for what happened, it shows that getting out of your box is essentially no escape from mental health problems - they come back as the comedown kicks in...
Nursery nurse found hanged May 31 2005
South London Press
A NURSERY nurse hanged herself in a children's playground after taking the drug ecstasy.
Laura Perij, 22, used a metal dog lead as a noose and attached it to a climbing frame.
Her body was spotted hanging in Brunswick Park, off St Giles Road, Camberwell, by a passing motorist.
Salma Rahman told an inquest: "I noticed a female standing on the climbing frame.
"She was standing still - I thought it was strange.
"I asked my sister to drive around the park again: I thought she might be hanging. I could see that her feet were off the floor and I called 999."
Ms Perij, of Houseman Way, Camberwell, was being treated for depression and had spoken frequently of suicide, Southwark Coroner's Court heard.
She had once tried to burn down her dad's home by dousing the door with lighter fuel.
PC Mark Nash told the inquest a series of suicide notes were found near the body when he went to the scene on December 27.
He said: "As we got to the children's play area I could see a figure hanging from one of the climbing frames in the park. I could see a silver chain around her neck.
"We decided to lift her down to see if we could help her in any way."
Post-mortem tests found high amounts of ecstasy in the nursery nurse's bloodstream but that she had died from hanging.
PC Nash added: "In the notes there were apologies and there were notes about her childhood."
Ms Perij's brother, Shane Robinson, told the hearing he saw his sister three days before her death and she had not mentioned suicide.
But he said: "She was always telling the family that she would kill herself."
A statement from Dr Steve Church, consultant psychiatrist at the Maudsley Hospital, Denmark Hill, confirmed Ms Perij had been self-harming with knives from the age of eight and was a drug user throughout her teens.
She had taken overdoses of pain killers twice before she died and had attempted to burn down her dad's house in September 2003.
Recording a verdict of suicide, deputy coroner Dr Adela Williams said: "In this case I am satisfied that from the notes left at the scene as well as the methods she used, she intended to kill herself at that time."
A suggestion : Tolerance zones in brownfield sites? in both city and rural areas there are always "brownfields" - bits of land/buildings which are unuseable for commercial business due to adverse locations (too far away) or a level of contaminination which makes them unfit for agriculture/livestock... there are also many factories which have closed down and become derelict, but the land has not yet been sold because there is so much surplus space elsewhere for business and manufacturing in the UK is declining...
clearly you would not want to encourage people to gather on areas which are badly contaminated and where people would suffer health problems -
but some of these areas are no worse for contamination than the places the ravers seek out for themselves. Perhaps they could become tolerance zones for raves if they are far enough from residential areas and viable agricultural land?
I know a lot of landowners and middle englanders would balk at "giving in to criminals" but TBH this is the lesser of many evils.
The current clampdown is only gong to push events further underground (it is already causing some areas to be overwhelmed by raves as their cops cannot provide as many anti-rave resources as neighbouring forces) , or even result in pissed off youths turning to addictive class A drug use in their own home areas and estates with the attendant rise in violent crime...(something that happened in the mid 90s with an earlier clampdown on raves and parties, which can be argued to be the cause of todays crack/crime epidemic)
a tolerance zone is a similar idea to a well-tried principle in agriculture; where when there are too many rats in a grainstore to be poisoned or caught by farm cats, the farmer takes a bag of grain, places it as far away from the store as possible, and cuts the bag open. The rats eat this bag and leave the rest of the grain alone!
of course there is the issue that gangsters/hard men may try to muscle in on the is "legitimised" rave scene; but far worse happens in the commercial nightclub scene but is "covered up" by the "free market approach"....

I had a girl, we went out for like 1 month maybe a little bit more . Ima make it short, she played me the first time , and she was saying sorry for the past one month . I don`t know why , but I took her back and we went out for a week , after Valentines Day we broke up . On VD, I bought her a ring which costed a lot , i waisted to much money on that girl , and she doesn`t even know what took me to get those money . I don`t think she will ever know . Next day she doesn`t talk to me , call me , or IM me . And she told my friend that we broke up.
