Joesph Fritzl & Other Type Of Hostage Rape Isn't it a horrible thought to think the amount of people kept hostage, children, teenagers, adults just locked away somewhere not able to leave being raped or whatever other twisted sick shit these people inflict on these poor victims. It's already known that people get abducted for these purposes and never escape apart from maybe death. Some horrific shit goes on in this world and I'm grateful for now I've never been a victim of such an atrocity.
So my heart goes out to the people currently suffering from these brutal cold hearted crimes, and why people do them I think some people suffer from a bad nurture growing up and some are just natural born fuck ups.

I don't believe in utopia and science says that diversity of life is how the gene pool works, so I guess we get beautiful kind people, and brutal psychopathic, sociopathic wankers in this diversity too. It's a real sad state of affairs and one I don't think education will ever fix, it can help, but never fix. If you listen to sex offenders (for example watch Louis Theroux LA Stories Sex Offenders) and you'll see these people know that what they're doing is wrong, but the urge for them to commit the crimes even when they set out that day in their mind saying I'M NOT GOING TO, they find themselves unable to stop themselves, tunnel vision one guy described it. He tried chemical castration and he says after 4 months it stopped working, and his last hope attempt and not re-offending is a home castration as he cannot afford a hospital one (or they are illegal).
Just a thought I had, for example that famous media figure Madeline Mccann could be in one of these horrible situations right now, who knows. One think I do know, is that the people committing these crimes are sub-human and deserve some sort of justice which is probably only a shred of what they do to the victims.

telephone ringing detector with LEDs I want some bright lights to flash in the studio when the VFR extension rings (rather than bells sound). The analogue telephone circuit uses a ringing signal of 80-90V AC at 25 Hz (it is quite strong; if you accidentally hold on to bare telephone wires it can definitely be felt!) - and all sorts of random signals can come down a phone line.
So I had to build a circuit to isolate the phone line from any other equipment; not let through any DC electricity (or the phone line will be permanently engaged) and reduce the voltage from the line to trigger an optoisolator.

I tried to add a sensitive relay to the output of this; but it "chatters" at 25Hz because of the ringing signal; which would knacker it fairly quickly. In any case it will mostly be triggering LED displays, and the 25Hz flicker reminds you these lights have something to do with telephones. So I just added another transistor stage using a PNP transistor; and 6 hi brightness blue LEDs on 12V raaa

circuit is here (blocking capacitor was 470n 250V rating (often found in old power supplies) I used 10V Zener diodes and a CNY17 optoisolator, and BC177 PNP transistor to drive the LEDs. The whole lot only uses about 10mA when all the LEDs are on!
