Someone I know packed in a decent job to go and live with a woman in the good ol’ US of A. He was married with a child at the time. Many people warned him about the pitfalls. Ten months later he was back in the UK telling us all what a nutter she turned out to be. He didn’t meet her on a dating site. She was his fantasy game opponent. I think that says it all.

knew a mate who went to visit a girl in the world’s dictatorship known as the US of A. He got her pics and chatted online, soon turned to phone calls etc and when he got there, it turns out she sent an old pic of herself, although she didn’t look that much different, her waistline did, like 30 inches different on top of what she had already!
I think you’ll only be successful if you meet someone on the net but meet them in person very shortly afterwards. Othrwise you establish all the bonds via a keyboard and when you meet each other and actually have to chat, it’ll feel weird and in that case from the word go, things are awkward!
Finding sexual partners on the net? Well that’s another issue altogether! As anyone who knows me will say, I don’t speak from experience but there’s definitely a much higher success rate. So in that case, depends on what you define as love.
