London Fire Brigade said the Metropolitan Police received a call at 4.55am reporting an extensive fire on the 19th-century clipper.
The Clyde-built Cutty Sark was, in 1869, one of the last sailing clippers to be built.
She was destined for the tea trade - an intensely competitive race across the globe from China to London, with immense profits for the ship to arrive with the first tea of the year.

i love technology, but i also love freedom from technology
the first one i got seemed quite good after all. i found it on a beach and tried to give it back, but the owner never got back to me. £5 of credit later and i started using it. it turned out to be handy. then i got a contract and with it a free phone. the advantage of this was that every year i got a new one sent to me for free that i could sell on ebay for enough to cover the cost of my contract :weee:
then i made the mistake of trying to use one of the phones i was sent... a samsung E900. :yakk:
anyone else out there who has used one of these might understand why i regretted it. something simple, like talking to someone on the phone, becomes a pain in the ass when the touch sensative 'cancel' button brushes against your face and cuts you off. i could go on

National Park Party I've been camping in a small disused quarry on the edge of the North York Moors many times without any problem, but.........
I plan to put on a bit of a do there next month and wondered if the rangers and police have any aditional powers to remove or confiscate with it being a National Park.

Ppl sometimes say well look at a river, the water flows chaotically. But does it? Isn't it just really complex order?
Ppl sometimes say look at fractal images, they can be chaotic. But are they truly chaotic/random? The only way to prove it is to expand the sample size to infinity, then you can prove that the formula doesn't repeat itself.
Ppl sometimes say look at random number generators on calculators. But you would have to generate random numbers forever to prove that the sequence of numbers doesn't repeat itself. And in fact some calculators do start repeating themselves within a few hours.
Does Order exist?
And what is order? Why can't order be called chaos? And what if order, when followed through forever, just dissolves into randomness, and the order that you saw was actually a random glitch that looked like a recognisable, ordered sequence?
Border of Order
If there are isolated bits of chaos in the universe, then what does the border between chaos and order look like? Is it really possible to have a border between chaos and order? Cos surely, when chaos hits the border with order, it becomes ordered, because it sticks to its border.
If a little island of chaos suddenly appeared in an ordered universe, wouldn't it instantly engulf the whole universe, because there can't be any border between order and chaos?
