  • HELLO :bounce_fl:bounce_ci

I’ve been pondering whether or not to make this thread for a while. It’s here now but it may not progress much, I imagine it will largely be a diary of my sleepless nights where I’ll type (un)interesting posts until I lose conciousness or develop carpal tunnel syndrome.

So any other insomniacs out there? Why the hell am I still up at this time and any ideas that don’t involve a valium addiction on how to get to sleep?

Ps hello Americans raaa I’m aware you may be awake depending where abouts in the states you are.

Somebody talk to me. I’m getting bored of my own thoughts

Yeeerrrp I’m awake it’s 6:10am. Don’t really care though gotta be up in 4 hours to do shit stayed up to catch up on internet going ons… I can get by on 4 hours sleep easy peasy… People need to man up and just get out of bed earlier and go out eat healthy food and bing bang bosh you’re gonna be feeling OK long as you ain’t living on 4 hours sleep everyday. TIME IS MONEY AND PRODUCTIVITY! 😀 CREATE & EARN WHILE YOU CAN!!

Gwaarn psy. Wouldn’t say I’m an insomniac but I just prefer being up at night as it feels like there’s more space to get my head round things I want to work on. Painting and writing aren’t generally the kind of things that are great for working in a social environment.

Hmm quick fixes for sleep… Damiana Tea I always used to find very helpful

Dancing, Psyentist. Only positive beside effects, and more effective than any amount of valium your average insomniac forum dweller can possibly afford. Plus it’s fun 🙂

    ….

Or if you’re like me… Extremely moderate amounts of speed or similar. But I really do mean extremely moderate amounts. Purity is a bitch and stuffs, but like the line you’d start with just to get a feel for the potency is the absolute max you want to do before going to sleep. I’d suggest maybe half that. More is the absolute last thing you need if you’re to have any hope of sleeping.

Positive beside effects… Positive side effects?

    – I’m not really an alien. It’s just all you fuckers that suddenly landed from outter space don’t speak any kind of language I can understand :p

I actually do better on no sleep than just 3-4. It’s like once my brain starts its melatonin production and I’m on my way to slumberland I need my full 8 or at least 6 hours sleep otherwise I’m groggy and don’t function properly until mid afternoon. Nothing to do with diet it’s a chemical imbalance. If I reach the point where I’m gonnabe getting less than 5 hours I’ll often deliberately stay up. Meaning I’m up all night frequently.

Meh I don’t like speed and I enjoy dancing therefore it stimulates my brain and wakes me up more. Just done 200 hundred sit ups. Now for a spliff as a reward. Healthy
abs and knackered lungs to restore the equilibrium

This thread was made for me, I dont sleep.

Thats EXACTLY how I feel, once I fall asleep Im gone for at least 6 hours, I can’t try to get 2 hours because there’s no waking me up lol, I’d rather not sleep

Neither lol, that’s why I am a TRUE insomniac;)

I don’t like coffee and rarely have fizzy drinks. Plus I’ve had a busy day and 2 joints. I AM A SPARTACUS!! I mean TRUE INSOMNIAC

Psy exercise is baddy-bad-badness if you do it within some (like at least 2+) hours of wanting to sleep.

Couple of caveats about THC: I don’t smoke myself, and of the pretty much everyone I’ve ever known who do smoke, only an almost exact handfull of formerly heavy smokers and now non-smokers have mentioned it to me in relation to sleep deprivation. And all of them smoked Hash, though I’m pretty firmly of the impression the hash in question was a couple of grades above the best of skunk (but again, note I don’t smoke. At all. Always made me carsick so it’s probably 15+ years since I’ve even tried to smoke).

But… I can kind of offer a really tiny amount of anecdotal un-evidence that more than.,, I fuess maybe 2g’s of reasonably good skunk before you go to work in the morning, might possibly somehow have a tiny chance of causing insomnia. I mean… To me it’s convincing enough I’d lay off more than that for two weeksies if I were you and smoked more than that. Dunno if it’s even remotely relevant, of course, much less helpful.

Coffee: None for at least 6 hours before you want to sleep. Kind of have a vague impression you’re a southern fairy like more than half of me was once upon a time, though, so you might want to adjust that to 8 hours on Fucking-Hairy-Teeth-Black and Proper Mug grounds.

Same thing (least 4 hours) for most sodas, whether or not there’s caffeine in it. Just about any will have a crapload of stuff in it that at the very least isn’t conductive to sleeping, and even among the caffeine-free stuff, a lot have what amounts to equally potent stimulants.

Sugary stuff is much the same as getting your pulse up: 2+ hours free from all of it before you want to sleep (including natural stuff like munching an apple or whatevs). And of course, more sugars means you should get your fill earlier in the day. Oh and, Chocolate is every bit as sleep depriving as caffeine, apparently, even though it doesn’t affect your ability to concentrate at all.

Finally, once upon a time there was a Swedish study that showed pretty convincingly that in a very, very few select individuals (like less than 1% or something I think) nicotine could set back the body’s melatonin production cycle with.. Fuck.. Like a couple of hours or something. Point being that for a very select unlucky few it could make them not feel sleepy unless physically exhausted for half the night, and make them feel completely knackered to.. like.. Noon or something. But it was a rare-rare thing.

    – Tried pretty much anything under the sun and had sleep studies done and stuff years ago. Of course, nothing really worked on me until I … “lucked” into a situation where I could use a very small amount of a proper stim every day. Which is a very different kind of RAARGH F’ING SLEEP ALREADY than yours :p

Incidentally, I used to eat Melatonin like candy for almost a year back in… 2000-01 or so (actually had to mailorder the shit from the US because it didn’t have the (fucking Germany) local equivalent of FDA approval.. Only reason I found out about it was from one of the docs doing sleep studies on me) until my sleepy doc kindly informed me that you pretty much have to .. uhm.. absorb? 50+ times a body’s normal dusk/nighttime melatonin (like.. half a pill bottle or something) level before it possibly can affect your ability to sleep, and even then you will generally just feel more tired for longer after waking, and not be better at sleeping. So… Melatonin is mostly worth a shot if you’ve had an actual skull fracture that you think is connected to your insomnia, and… It’s… No kind of drug at all, except for maybe oversleeping and getting the boot.

It could just be my sleep deprivation but I barely understood a word of that
