The question is not really whether you could find love on the internet – of course you can! – so therefore I don’t really understand these succesful “exemples” of love on the internet. Should I thereby conclude that, yes, its a marvellous love-culture-place/space? Well, its not. But its not deprived of love either. Whether virtual or real space, love is out there (or – in there…)

I think things have changed even over the last two years.

People actually have less time to socialise due to longer working hours, and many people of both genders are put off by the aggressive sexual competitiveness of the “cattle market” conventional meeting places like commercial pubs and clubs, at the same time many more people use the internet now (only a few years ago it was dominated by younger White or Asian males who worked as IT professionals.)

Meeting someone on the net can only be a precursor to meeting them in real life anyway, and there is the obvious danger of lies, fakes and trolls. the fees on dating sites are not just to cover hosting fees etc but insurance in case something really dark happens at a meeting and the sites brand image is wrecked by bad publicity, and also a way of detering the frivolous.

I still wouldn’t use them TBH – there are also a lot of people who deliberately use them so they can play the game with multiple partners in different areas of the UK – OK if it is a swingers board than fair enuff if everyone knows the score, but leading people into thinking they are the only one is predatory, and fucks over everyone in the end (including the person doing it).

I heard of a person in our area who kept doing this with different girls; but karma caught up with him in the end. The last girl turned out to be lying about her age – now he is in HMP and on the nonce list!

Of course this could happen with real life though but sometimes people think because its the net you can get away with anything.

That said two people may meet partly through discussions on a normal messageboard or be brought together by one through shared interests, and have a genuine relationship.

(Although I still wouldn’t think its a good idea turning any rave board into a overt dating board though – peoples emotions can be muddled by drugs and the moderators may end up having to pick up the pieces….)

You just need one hell of a monitor to do it though

    Anyone tried

I dunno if you can find love on the internet, i dunno if i can find love in the real world :-(!! The lastest Mrs Roly has just dumped me, so for the second time this year i find myself moping about feeling sorry for myself! all of the women i’ve met in the real world like to go to ‘music bars’ where its five deep at the bar and pay a fiver for a bottle of bud while listening to kylie, but they’ll never ever give real partying a go. Perhaps its me, perhaps its essex.

yes, perhaps its essex. No, really, don’t let a few bad experiences trick you you into the path of stereotypical thinking. That could real soon influence your behaviour… in a negative way.
I know plenty of chic chicks who like real partying.

    no, i think its me!
I made a real effort last night, had some wine cooling in the fridge, tried to be a real george clooney, but got stood up! so i think i’m gonna become a monk or at least take a vow of chastity, then i’ll be ok

my mate posted an artificial intelligence program in a chat room and had guys flirting with it for ages. Fucking funny

yup, that is pretty funny! and you can bet they were all fat 49 year old virgins who still live with their parents from nowheresville usa!

seriously tho, we all pay isp access fees, surely it aint right to pay to put yourself in the public, on the market or whatever u wanna look at it, its still takes a lot of bottle for some1 to post themselves for the world to judge.
putting a pic up, takes a lot of gonads, especially if your not too pretty

classifieds sites, make bucketloads, the scripts do the work,
ok they mod them to an extent, but its really up to the users practicality and common sense, there’s no moderating that, unfortunately.

on the net i reckon there’s love to be found, u can judge lots of personalities by how people write. i just don’t think that some1 should have to pay 4 the pleasure

like u said its impossible to insure a free site, but a credit/debitcard could be verified for a quid the rest should be sponsored by the like of interflora / cardshops etc

there must be satisfaction for the webmasters making people so happy

    my 2p
    🙂

well i know this guy from amsterdam i met playing online games and hes dead sound and is gettting married to some bird he met on the net from america and shes moving out there in a few months a i think :bounce_ci so surely they cant all be phycopaths and perverts out there

well i met a girl on the net and we ended up chatting for ages before we ever met up and the reason being is because we didnt put on any fronts or any bullshit that you would normally get anyway. i met up with her on her own grounds and instead of coming to see her for a day, i ended up staying for a couple of weeks…when i got back we realised something was there so i moved in with her and have been for the last year and a half now and were moving into our own place in a few weeks. it can happen and it is possible but its all about how you are with each other…and isnt that just the same as if you met them in a club, pub free 1 or on a bus?….

    love is love…strange thing innit…

Yep I’d agree with that :cloud9:

My m8 met his now wife online an’ they’re goin’ strong

    Imagine this
There was a woman called Mandy and a guy named George. They spoke to each other everyday, there was not a day went by when they didn’t speak. Mandy was going through a tough time, George was there for her, he helped her out and made her see that life was worth living. They began a relationship, the used to stay up talking all night, he used to txt her in the mornin just to say good morning. He made her feel so special, like she was the only person in the world. She made him feel like the luckiest person in the whole entire world.

Now, what would you think if I said these people met on the internet? Yes you can find love on the internet, just because you’ve never touched his/her face doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t love someone that is just ridiculous

I saw a clip on french tv this morning telling kids not to give personal information to strangers on the net, funnily enough though it was a lot like the sketch with two paedophiles grooming each other thinking they’re kids until they meet…

That’s the French for you. That’s why I don’t watch it 😛 I spend my life watching DVD’s.

Loving each other is easy, however when living together require each partners to compromise. To maintain a lasting relationship require the efforts of each other. That is the cause of many failure in relationship and divorces. It will not be easy however it can be done.
