  • cheers mate, like the website, always bin interested in foraging for my own food etc.

As for the mushroom hunt we found the perfect meadow on the side of a hill facing south that had been a sheep field and the farmer had spread with manure. But we found nowt. I feel this is because the ground was seriously dry so there was no moisture in the air plus it was quite warm. But that field will be my next venture on a nice misty morning.raaa

drying, freezing etc means you lose the psilocycin (?)

how would you store them? does freezin mean they lose their ‘psycodelicness’?? excuse my lack of shroom terminology.

there are 2 active ingredients in liberty caps

one (psilocycin) is lost when you freeze or dry them

the main ingredient (psilocybin) is also damaged by cooking or boiling

if you want to preserve some, runny honey is the way forward

    what dilema?

The dilemma of not being totally sure if you’ve got the right ones…

Lets get down to the nitty gritty has anyone actually picked any shrooms yet?

I think that global warming (and I’m not being a hippy here) has affected the shroom season dramitically. I usually go picking about this time and I have come over to a freinds some where in the wilds of Cumbria to pick…

I have been out on the fells for a couple of days and found nothing 🙁

I think I might get lucky tomorrow as it looks like rain, but has anyone actually found some themselves?

well it has been fairly a warm/dryish september-may be reason for late development?

on the subject of preserving, a few years ago i had a bumper pick and ended up throwing a load into some red wine. i left them till the following summer and they blew me socks off! may be because it had been a while since i had had them previous? would the psilocycin/ psilocybin be affected this way?

oh and had a dream the other night about picking my way out of a HUGE patch of shrooms, hopefuly its a preminition:groucho:

There has been some rain (woo!)

I am out tomorrow at 6am… if I find any you’ll be the first to know :groucho:

could be that the alcohol moved the psychoactive components into solution?

    any takers for that view?

the active ingredients are soluble in alcohol ; you are creating what is called a “tincture”; an ancient way of extracting active ingredients from plant sources. I expect you could get a similar result from soaking the shrooms in the wine (or even stronger alcohol) for a shorter amount of time

I have. Although not widespread yet, a certain amount of rooting around under the hawthorns on the common has provided a decent amount. Was out picking all day mind.
