Hey spare a though for me – I remember the days of an annual trip to the dark mountains yeah you know the ones. Now I live in Australia. And I don’t know where to pick em. They are available from time to time tho. In fact now you have reminded me of the pleasures I think I am gona try and get my hands on some! Hmmm Yum. I remember a friend of mine chcken pie giving me way to many once and going to remix sitting on a bar stool .. al I could see was cartoons and the occasional face would appear and say “are you alright..” possibly the worst thing you can say to a tripper. Am I alright… well I was until you made me think about it… am… i….alright…. shit what if im not….

    Ha ha

Hey there – I have been wondering if anybody has managed to pick any bloody ‘shrooms yet!?!? – Today is the 1st day we have had any fog/frost/mist – and previous forrages to my usual spots have been fruitless. I’m planning on going again tomorrow morning…

Is this wise – does anybiody feel it is too late/too early!?

I see some agree that the late autumn is having a knock on effect…

    Please advise!!!

Do you have to pick early in tha morning?

Usually – The overnight frosts and all that…

Plus you don’t get dogs piss on them 1st thing!

but they’re still out through out tha day?

    frost kills them

after the first frost you won’t find anything

Really?! – We’ve never had any problems with that…

Oh dear, I reckon I’d better get my ass up there tomorrow!!!

it was frosty here two days ago and the fields are overflowing this morning. it took about half an hour and the container i had was full.

the old boy who showed me the ropes reckons that altho the first frost shows the season is coming to an end, its when they bloom most.
dunno if its true, but im going out tomorrow and sunday for sure.

Found 17 yesterday, lots of little patches of babys about too. The season is definately kicking into gear

if frost doesn’t settle evenly, you will find them in the patches where there has been no frost, so in that respect you are right, but read any field mushroom guide…frost kills em

:shy: make that ‘the fields were overflowing, but not with any real shrooms’

sorry to doubt you glo, in my eagerness to find as many shrooms as possible i went a bit wrong. gonna give it a go tommorrow, only this time, forget EVERyTHING that nutter taught me.

you need to don’t take my word for it mate (although i have been picking for about 15 years)

once you’ve been picking for a while, you might notice the same thing…. at the end of the season, some sheltered spots will still have a few mushrooms, even when the frost has killed off most growth

this season has been crap conditions around here :hopeless: and now frost is looking likely… i think the ground has been too warm, despite some good rain storms, ther have been lots of warm, sunny, dry days in between. now there’s a sudden drop in air temperature, clear night skys likely to cause frost, without much moisture

    last ditch effort this weekend
