field party any one else get to the party in the field last night round milton keynes way? thought it was a brilliant party, really friendly atmosphere.
the OB turned up to join the party, the chopper gave some excellent strobe lighting effects for us, but no real hassle from them, just watched the party from the road as far as i could see until they came down with the old bits of paper in the morning...
met some really lovely people, gave a couple of local people we met a lift home cause their driver was a bit too spangled to leave driving past the police, and so they invited us in, gave us a the fattest spliff, the biggest cup of tea and fluffy slippers!
spot on weekend!
The rights and wrongs of arming the civilian population The idea of arming the civilian population isnt new ....Orwell also argued that arming the civilians would safeguard democracy.....it was a different world then of course, but i dont think he was actually serious about it, even then..
as to the idea of educating people about other religions, well im not against it... but I was just reading yesterday that a number of educationalists are getting a bit fed up of having their lessons dictated to by goverment ideals for how we should think on a variety of "new labour" agendas, religion being just one.
in the light of mushrooms being outlawed are kids being taught anything about religions where psycoactive drugs are integral? are they being taught the Rastafarian belief that man cannot outlaw marijuana?, or shamanism, or paganism? Maybe some parents here can enlighten me as to whether their kids are being taught about these other religions... or just the ones currently up on the political agenda..
For anyone interested heres the bit about Orwell...
Orwell thought that the Home Guard would make not only a good fighting force against the Germans but would also demonstrate the possibility of achieving 'a democratic People's Army'. In such a force, co-operation among different parts of society would replace the traditional reliance on upper-class leadership and a large, well-armed popular militia would act as a sort of insurance policy against government tyranny at home.
At the end of an article on the Home Guard in Tribune, Orwell wrote: THAT RIFLE HANGING ON THE WALL OF THE WORKING-CLASS FLAT OR LABOURER'S COTTAGE IS THE SYMBOL OF DEMOCRACY. IT IS OUR JOB TO SEE THAT IT STAYS THERE.'

bad enough that he got elected by default... but his justification for joining the BNP???
being taught about other faiths is a good thing. It promotes understanding and reduces conflict. The Muslim faith is not 'totally against Christianity'... muslims include jesus as a muslim prophet, just not their main one.
so he'd rather support a party whose manifesto says that they would arm every citizen to defend their rights against the government :you_crazy and who would introduce forced deportation to people who are not british citizens than have information about various religions be given to his son at school
:head_bang
what a moron!
glastonbury roll-call sorry had to steal the idea :groucho:

Turning off the computer I have a bad habit of not turning my computer off when I leave home,
and sometimes when I go to bed at night (like to fall asleep to music)
I don't know if that's good or bad for the computer..
My computer is getting very old and I want to keep it for as long as possible
can't afford a new one at the moment and for a long time ahead..
Any nerds (ahem..computer specialists) who can tell me that? :weee:
Much appreciated

Rosehip syrup Does anyone remember being given this as a small child?
I remember getting it from about 1974-1979 or so, came in small bottles and was something to do with the NHS...
it was given as a sort of "treat" for enduring the baby/child clinic, you would be carted into some drab NHS facility - they'd line up all the kids and then some nurse would weigh you and check your height etc and poke/prod you like these sort of matron type nurses did in those days.
and often there weren't even any toys or books in the clinic but all sorts of scarey govt posters about rabies and contamination etc that would give you nightmares when you are 5...
It was supposed to be very good for you as a source of vitamin C, although I bet nowadays there would be complaints over the sugar levels.
Your mum would usually be given a few bottles to take home as well - and would give this to you at winter to protect against colds, and maybe to keep us all healthy in case the Soviets tried to invade or something like that..
I expect half the board has no idea what I'm on about but I think it was handed out by the NHS until 1981 or so (after then it was easier for kids to get fresh fruit and other sources of vitamin C)..

From the year between 1998 to 1999, a great underground rave culture began to transform in the City of Denver, Colorado, USA. The promoters responsible for this happening were Mike "E", The Messiah, and The Energy Posse so called names that they went by.
