UK : East : Usual pressrel from Suffolk cops (extract) This is an extract from the latest presss release they have put up on their website (link not provided for obvious reasons!)
The first part mentions that 2 people were arrested at Coney Weston and some kit seized.
After that theres the usual "advice to nimbys" that will no doubt be in the Archant local papers soon.
what may be new is the addition about vehicles being seized (not sure if I've seen this before). Last year quite a few of my friends had vehicles seized at raves but this was in SE England!
I get the impression that cops (and CPS lawyers) countrywide are sharing ideas on what they can get away with...
Quote:
Chief Superintendent David McDonnell commented:
“As was seen over this most recent weekend, raves can be very difficult to stop when in full swing, so early notification of a rave taking place is critical in helping us police these events.”
“Ultimately public safety is the primary concern for us. Where officers can prevent, disrupt or stop a rave taking place, we will do everything within our powers to do this, providing that it is in the best interests of all concerned, given the specific circumstances that we are faced with.”
Police have powers, which enable them to seize vehicles and sound equipment in certain circumstances. As such they are urging anyone who rents sound or lighting equipment to only do so to people who they believe to have a valid and legal reason. Seized equipment will be retained as evidence for any prosecution.

fat cats rinse time-pressured humans? no, not a political rant but an investigation into animal behaviour..
Most humans wake up at different times in the morning (depending on what their other responsibilities are); any time from 07:00 to 14:00 IME..
Cats are usually awake by 05:00; and often use a variety of strategies to wake the first human in the house to obtain food (anything from mewing to barging open closed doors /jumping on beds/tables/knocking things over/ ripping out communications cables from wall boxes)
Usually this is someone in full time employment/education who feeds the cat and leaves fairly. early
The cat(s) then consume the food in their bowls; wait for the later rising members of the household to appear (or wake them up); and obtain further supplies of food.
This they repeat until the humans eventually realise the cat food supply is being exhausted even quicker than normal/ and/or the cats are growing considerably in girth (sometimes it even takes the vet to point this out!)
Anyone else noticed this?
HiFi Festival is this weekend Hi:Fi is an incredible, new, double-music event taking place in May 2006 simultaneously over two separate sites in the north and the south of the country. It will re-write history as the FIRST EVER music festival to boast a line up of both blocking-rocking bands and superstar DJs.
Hi:Fi is the brainchild of the Angel Music Group who are responsible for Global Gathering which last year sold out with record breaking numbers of over 40,000 people. Hi:Fi adds an event to their festival portfolio which represents people's more eclectic taste in the noughties. The indie line up has been supervised by Glastonbury talent booker, Martin Elbourne who provides valuable insight into the live music scene.
James Algate, the festival organiser says, "Hi:Fi is the festival for the iPod generation. The event will offer something for everyone musically by bridging the gap between out and out dance and live shows. We want to give our guests the opportunity to see their indie and dance heroes performing side by side for the first time. This is something that we believe will suit the more eclectic music tastes of the 21st century perfectly".
Hi:Fi North will take place for one day and night on Saturday 27th May at the picturesque Matfen Estate near Newcastle. As part of the last Bank Holiday Weekend in May, there's no doubt Hi:Fi will kick-start the summer by being the first major music event of the season.
Hi:Fi South will be a two day camping festival in the legendary Matterley Bowl near Winchester taking place on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th May between 2pm and 4am each day.

ASBO used to prevent raves Watching BBC Central news last night.....
TVP have brought a civil action against a DJ, following six months of case building, preventing him organising or taking part in any illegal raves. He had to "accept" the ASBO, but if he breaks it in the next two years, he can go to jail for up to 5 years.
New tactics, the first time it has been used, and the TVP rep seemed well chuffed with himself. He also stated that they are prepared to use these preventative measures along with other, more traditional policing methods to continue the clampdown against these "threats to the local community".
What d'ya think GL?
drunk as rats..
He was so brave a Bowzer,
that it was doubtful whether
He taught the Rats, or the Rats taught him
To be druncke as Rats, together.
