US : Radio Shack seems to be finally going tits up Amazed TBH it lasted that long, although to be fair not everything from there was junk, especially during . the 1980s and the late 1990s.
Alas, when Rat Shack equipment got sold in UK via the Tandy subsidiary half of it was way overpriced (especially computers in 1980s) although there were also bargains to be had if you looked carefully.
it was worrying though how the USA management managed to trash a company which wasn't doing that badly during the late 1990s.
Maybe there is some stuff in the clearance sale DB and other Americans might be able to make use of (and it would even now be being sold at a reasonable price).

UK : SW : Yet *more* OD's (some fatal) from strong MDMA pills A teenager has died and some young adults taken to hospital in serious condition after taking MDMA in the SW of England.
Although cops are unable to give full information yet (there need to be more forensic tests) these incident patterns match others where stronger MDMA pills have been on sale.
If you take MDMA in the UK and Europe, whether you are a young/new user or have taken it for some time; treat all new pills as if they were 4 times stronger than those you might previously have used or have been told about by older friends.
Take only a quarter of each pill; and wait as long as 2 hours before taking any more.
This could be the difference between a fun time and/or ending up in the hospital!

DK : New electronic signs to stop traffic jams for cyclists! There are now so many cyclists in Copenhagen that they have traffic jams at the rush hours, and hope these electronic signs will encourage people to stagger their journeys more to avoid them..

TH : 26 kilo wild monkey captured by animal control, put on diet.. Good thing they caught him and got him to the vet; he was already suffering from the same health problems that humans in their late youth and middle age can get from too much junk food..
Also he was teaching the rest of the monkeys bad habits (in spite of presumably not being too fast moving he was difficult to catch as the other monkeys who he had been sharing food with tried to attack the vets and rangers!)

CH : Swiss folk say "Atomkraft – Nein danke!" The Swiss have had a referendum: no more nuclear power stations to be built anywhere in the country and all existing ones must shut down by 2050 at latest. (There are a lot of electric trains in CH as well as highly advanced businesses that depend on reliable power so removing power stations can't just happen overnight, but folk there are confident this can be done)

UK : Vinyl overtakes digital music sales in Britain Still got all my old skool vinyl from late 80s onwards; just need to find time and energy to start mixing it again (which is actually way more difficult than using the modern computerised controllers).
Hopefully this will also encourage a resurgence in the use of proper hi fi equipment (doesn't need to be the way overpriced "audiophile" stuff but anything with tried and tested 1980s era design from Japan or Malaysia is usually decent); and good loudspeakers make a whole load of difference too..

menu bar flies about the screen/flashes Not sure if this is something to do with new software; but on both Firefox and Chrome if you aren't logged in the menu bar ends up right in the middle of the screen where it obscures content (I know many other sites do stuff like this but it can be annoying) - and if you are logged in it flashes and disappears (also distracting, and possibly bad for people who are photosensitive).
Any chance of stopping this from occurring?
