- AUX input/record player would i be able to connect a record player through AUX or something to me hi-fi? it's got AUX input but i'm unsure as to what can be connected through it, i lost the manual. it's a panasonic, if it helps. me old man keeps gettin in an arse with me using his record player all the time :laugh_at: 1 2

- Advice Please? I am goin to uni in september and need a laptop for when i go, but i will also need it to make music with it. Does anyone have any recommendations of any good laptops that could be used for making music as well as just general computer stuff? Would it be easier to just get a laptop and whack a good soundcard in there, or to buy a package from somewhere where its all already made for music (all the software and soundcard all setup already). I'll want to run stuff like cubase, reason and perhaps ableton (when i get it) on there as well as recording from some hardware onto it, so i'd want as good sound quality as i can get. Im on a pretty tight budget of about £1000 (£1500 if i really push it). I dont know shit about computers so i dont know really whats good or not. Anyone have any recommendations, or links to sites where i can buy good (preferably cheap) laptops? Nice one

- Computer help PLZ!!! Basically my computer is shit! i cant give you specs because i dont know, but i've got 2 meg broadband! Whenever i try to do anything the whole thing will either freeze, shut every program running down or just tell me that nothing is responding. Whenever you try to close a window ; not responding. you sign on to windows messenger ; not responding. sign into the internet ; not responding. Constantly coming up with boxes tellin me to send an error report to microsoft sayin im tryin to shut a non responsive program1 WTF?? My computer doesnt mind it here funnily enough. :you_crazy

- Computer Help One of my laptops (Averatec 35000)can no longer see the cd drive (slimtype combo SOSC-2483k) Device manager says "windows successfully loaded the drivers for this hardware but cannot find the device" The drive seems to be connected as it trys to read a cd so obviously has power,as far as im aware a cd drive doesnt need any drivers other than those supplied with windows (using xp by the way),any one have any ideas for a fix? or is the drive fooked. have tried removing the device and rebooting but get the "windows successfully guff again":yakk:

- iTunes is the fucking worst ever! i put all my music 60 gig of albums into i tunes, and what it has done is fucking separated most of the albums, and put some songs on there own , other songs i cant fucking find, its a right fucking nightmare is therte any way of making it better 1 2

- "Media centre" devices I'm looking for one of those things that is like a hi-fi but links to your WLAN and plays out streaming media files.. I want one so when I want to listen to partyvibe radio I don't always have to play it through the PC (such as when I am half knackered/spangled and can't be arsed with computers) can anyone recommend a good one?

- WLAN techie question again I want to connect a big printer/photocopier to the network, but the managers here do not want to use cables for safety and appearance (and it would involve hacking up the door frame to get them through) I know I need a box to connect the CAT5 patch cable from the printer to the wireless network (in place of just using a cable), but what is this called? is it just an access point or called something else altogether?

- Useful link for techie help… I know lots of people (myself included) have asked at one point or another "what the hell is a file with .xyz extension, and what do you do with it" Having done it again today, I thought I'd post the link to the place I go to find out: http://filext.com/ Almost 23,000 file extensions, so if you can't find a file definition there you can probably safely assume that the file you are seeing is an hallucination, and will go away if you get some sleep...:biggreen: I think it says a lot about computer programmers that there are 4 files that use the extension .ERM, and one that uses .WTF...:you_crazy I'm fascinated to know why Apple users get the file extension .BIZZARRELOVETRIANGLE . Apparently something to do with Golden Orchard, but there is no info beyond that. Can anyone shed any light??? :confused::confused::confused:

- I’ve locked myself out of my desktop! im such a dunce, i was trying to network my win2000 desktop computer to my xp latop, and now i cant get into my pc! its asking for an admin password, and its not what i thought it was. so now i cant use the computer at all.... please some one tell me im not the first to do this and theres a way round it...ive googled it but noone seems to have doen it to themselves - just got locked out of work or student cpu's. am i gonna have to crack my own cpu, or can i reset it or summat? aaarrggg! i keep going over my own head when it comes to tech. never quite fucked up this bad befor etho....

- I’ve dropped my laptop Basically i dropped my lap top tonight and now have an inch long line along the screen where all text is indeciferable, can i get this fixed at the it depatment or do i nedd to get a new lap top? (the line on the screen has a 3mm part that is a moving zig zag line) please could all replys be at leat an inch away from the edge of the posting screen. Thanx from owain:crazy_diz

- MP3 player? anyone got reccomendations on decent brands? I don't want a really flash one or a "bling" brand like an Ipod, I just want one with about 512MB of storage. Are the Chinese ones that you see in different cases sold in computer shops but that all seem to have the same user interface pretty much all the same? 1 2

- Heat is crashing my computer Anyone elses comp failing in the Heat? starting yesterday mine beeps like crazy (processor overheat alarm) then crashes.Sat here now with a hoover pipe shoved in the back and hoover switched on.Noisy as fuck but seems to be working.
